∞Emma's POV∞
I woke up in Ambrogio's bed. Thankfully he wasn't there, though it would've been nice to slip out before he woke up. Now, he had seen me sleeping. Next to him, it appeared by the state of the other side of the bed.
I quickly slipped out of the bed. I was still in the dress from yesterday. Great, now I had to do a fake walk of shame through the entire house. That was nice.
A door stood open in the other end of the room. It led to a bathroom. I walked in and freshened up. I was a mess right now. Messy hair, makeup from yesterday, and bad breath. I used the tiniest amount of Ambrogio's products. So little he wouldn't notice.
I opened the door a tiny amount and looked around me. No one was here. I sneaked out and then did the same with the door to the big hallways. Successful.
Nobody took great notice of me, and no one stopped me on the way down to my own room. I had managed that great.
When I was in my own room, I had the time to think about yesterday. And then I freaked out. I had touched him... there. That was way over the line. He might have thought it was good acting, but it was too much. Way too much.
I felt my stomach tie up. Tonight was the night. I was going to escape. I had decided against going to the police. It would only do me bad. They would know, and even if they all went to prison, there would still be more. I would never be free. They would find me and then kill me, or even worse.
I gathered my stuff and walked to the showers. I could've died for a hot shower.

As the day went on, I grew more and more nervous. I wasn't sure I could pull it off. They would probably find me, wouldn't they? Capturing me once again.
It was close to eight pm. It was twilight, so the dark would soon come. That would be my shot. There was no way I could manage the escape during the day. It was far too risky.
I left the kitchen, where I had just cleaned after dinner, and then went back to my room.
I opened my drawers, searching for something better to wear. I found a pair of leggings. They were probably meant for sleeping or lounging, but I would use them to escape. I couldn't run in my dress. It was too cold at night, and I wasn't even sure where the nearest help would be. We had driven through the entire countryside before reaching the woods the estate was located in. I could have miles of woods in front of me. It would be too dangerous to reach out to the homes nearest the estate. I could imagine Ambrogio had deals or something with them. He restrained from killing them, if they gave him information? Something like that.
My stomach tightened at the thought of Ambrogio. How would he react?
The only shoes I had were flats, so they would do. At least it wasn't heels. Thankfully they provided me with a zip-up hoodie. All the clothes in the closet were black, which suited my situation. I put up my hair in a ponytail, and then I was ready. I didn't really have to bring anything. I didn't have a bag to hold water or food, so that wasn't even an option. Hopefully I would find help fast.
My chest almost hurt from my beating heart, and I sucked in a hard breath. I sat down on my bed and tried to relax. Everything would turn out fine.
After about half an hour, it was pitch black outside. I couldn't wait any longer so I stood up. I left my room, giving it one last glance.
I hurried through the maids' hallway. No one was there. I sneaked into the entrance hall and looked around. No one.
I had planned to escape at nine pm. At night, the estate's security would double, and during the day, everyone was walking through the house. This time was perfect since everyone would either be working, at the casino, out, or something else. Not many people were in the halls. I received a look from a man. I didn't recognize him. I knew I looked a little strange for a maid. The maids didn't leave their halls in different clothes than the maid dress.
