"You may now kiss your bride." The marriage officiant looks at us both with the warmest and genuine of smiles. His brown eyes seem to still contain so much joy and understanding, although they've probably looked at so many newly married couples before.

Fane takes me into his arms, and kisses me passionately soft and long. Our witnesses, which are in fact, another couple who are waiting to be married, clap and cheer as our newlywed kiss, deepens.

In the end, we had to wait twenty four hours before we could get married at NY City Hall. Excited and clueless, we thought we would be able to just get married right there and then, but instead, we had to apply for our marriage licence first. But you know what? It doesn't matter. The past twenty four hours have been full of talking, kissing, loving, laughing, planning and plenty of lovemaking. Then today, we finally married in the West Chapel within the beautiful Manhattan building.

Fane's lips break away from mine, yet he holds me affectionately close against him as he smiles down at me. "I love you, Mrs Vladimirescu...I love you so much." Then he kisses my nose, both of my cheeks and my closed eyes. A sedate, yet very real need, to kiss every part of my face that now officially belongs to him.

With the workings of my whole heart, I need to reply as my eyes slowly open to the perfect sight of him. "I love you, too. I love you more than anything in this world."

He smiles, contently so with a face so very full of adoration. "Not even the universe has enough room for the love I have for you, Darla." The enamoured notes in his gentle voice, sing the sweetest song in my heart.

"You make me so happy, Fane." And he so perfectly does. To think that after losing Abel, I was prepared to lose him too. To think I had once become so disturbingly distant from the beautiful man in front of me, who now holds me so very tightly within his husbandly arms. The same arms who kept trying to fix me, when he had been trying to quietly fix himself. Although we've put that painful time behind us, I'll spend forever trying to make up for pushing Fane away. I'll spend forever loving him, because he'll spend forever loving me back. Out of tragedy and change, a deeper love and understanding for one another has been born. Fane and I are like bricks and mortar; together, we are strong.

Eye to eye, breath to breath; we are whole. "Are you ready to start the rest of your life with me?" Fane adoringly smiles down at me, our happiness reflecting in one another's spheres.

With a shifting feeling near my happy heart, a pang of joy, I nod. "I couldn't be more ready, Mr Vladimirescu."

I honestly couldn't be readier. I'm ready for anything life has to throw at me. I'm ready to embrace my life as a vampire. I'm ready to embrace life with my very gorgeous vampire husband. I'm just ready.

Exciting times lay ahead for us. Sundown, the new club, is opening in a weeks time. Fane is being sworn in as an elder, in two weeks time, and I'm going to be jetting between London and New York with my new wifely role to Fane. He wants me to be in charge of PR for both clubs, whilst Lyla is assistant manager for both The Dusk Room and Sundown. So it would seem, my dearest friend will also be joining us in our jet-set life. And she's not the only one reaping the benefits of my new and exciting life—mum is on a plane, as we speak. When I rang to tell her that Fane and I were now married, once the screaming had very much subsided, she insisted on coming to see us, stating that. "I've never been to the Big Apple!" Followed by much more excited screaming.

There will come a time, that I'll need to tell my mum all about who I am now...who Fane really is. Mum is pretty open minded and usually accepting of those who go against the grain of society. I'd like to think that she'll be accepting of us, too. I'd also like to think that her opinion of vampires will not be based on myth and ancient beliefs. I will give her the honest and plain truth, and hope that she'll understand that my life is evolving, just as humanity is evolving. The world is changing, and it shall continue to change. Humans and vampires have learnt to live, shoulder to shoulder. They've moved from hunter/prey, to simply, vampire/human. For centuries, the elders have been trying to prevent our kind from being vilified and mythicised; all born out of grandiose fantasy and fearful ignorance. In more recent years, shows such as True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, have cleverly opened the channels of acceptance within the younger generation, because they now deem vampirism as pretty darn cool. The rise of the Internet has also paved it's way for the interest in vampires to continue to thrive. Authors, love writing about them. Artists, enjoy immortalising them through their art, and musicians, fantastically sing about them. Unsurprisingly, the elders have each had an important hand in all of this. It may sound far fetched, but this has all been part of a bigger plan, perfectly orchestrated for decades. They knew that in order to be accepted, they needed the younger generation to do that. By glamourising vampirism, it's removing the layers of stigma and legend that's long thwarted those who have been so desperate for change. With change, has come knowledge; scientific knowledge. Slowly, vampires have learnt more about themselves and humans have learnt more about vampires, too. Humanity has realised that most aren't killers, that they don't want to be killers. So a harmonious line has been drawn between both of their pasts. In order to move forward, both vampires and humans have left behind the days of when vampires were despised and feared and when humans were only seen as prey. Donors are as much a way of life for vampires, as cattle and crops are for humans. Real-life vampire communities continue to grow, and humanity itself continues to grow. Our kinds have each become equals, equals that are respected and empowered. Yet for all of that respect and empowerment, a balance still needs to be maintained. A balance between secrecy and knowledge. It's not yet time to fully unveil vampirism. It's crucial that there's still some secrecy in order to protect us. Although the world is very much changing, it's not yet ready for the truth about vampires. Those who need to know, do. That secrecy can only be removed, when the world really is ready for the whole truth. Fane has lived through many of these changes, which is why he's going to make such a difference as an elder. Me? I'm just starting out in this new life, but I hope to see many more changes to come. I'll be so very proud to be a part of that. Fane feels that there's so much more left to be done. He wants to educate all new vampires well, so that they never go rogue. He wants to continue to educate humans, so that the harmony that exists between us may long continue. He believes that so much new hatred now exists within our world, hatred that's acted upon by terrorists. He believes that vampires are no longer the biggest threat to humankind; it's them. To some of these tyrants, our existence is now known, and they're wanting to use rogue vampires to use against the world. This can't happen. Which is why Fane wants to work alongside those who have the power to eradicate the hold that terrorism has over our fragile world, before there's no world left to save. This is why the turning of any vampire has to be agreed with all of the elders across the world. The humans being turned have to be of sound mind and be 100% behind what the elders want for all of our futures. If they feel that a vampire could go rogue, that vampire has to be eliminated. The elders will do anything in order to maintain peace between us and humanity. And Fane wants that too, which is why he thinks that educating all new vampires is absolutely crucial.

So don't fear us, fear what you see and hear at the hands of the terrorists. Just as terrorism is all too real, so are we. Vampires are real, and we truly do exist. Your world, is also our world. Just as we value our kind, we value your kind. A new type of evil has our world in its heinous grip, and it's not the grip of vampirism. We want the same things that you want—happy and peaceful lives. We want safe and prosperous lives, with those that we care about living the very same lives. So don't fear us. Embrace us.

I know, it's scary to embrace something that you don't understand, right? I was once just like you, so I sought out to understand. The thing is, we are everywhere. You may live, work, laugh and eat with a vampire. You just might not know it yet. The girl you sit next to at college, the guy serving you drinks, or the policeman giving you a speeding ticket; they all could be vampires.

"What are you smiling about?" Fane catches me far away in my thoughts.

"I'm just thinking how wonderful our future is going to be." My arms come up around his back, stroking the broadness of his shoulders that are sexily clothed in a crisp white shirt and formal waistcoat. "But before we embark on our wonderful future." I stop whispering, flirty lashes looking back up at him first. "I think we need to consummate things with a little wild and passionate vampire sex." My lopsided smirk can't be contained, it demurely remains upon my seducing mouth.

Fane's green eyes narrow, narrowing with dark desire. "For you, Mrs Vladimirescu...your wish is my command." He then sweeps me up into his powerful arms, with a sexy slow smile evocatively growing. "If my beautiful and very horny wife wants vampire sex, vampire sex she gets!"

We leave the room in a giddy and determined blur, our need for one another feverishly fusing us together. I'm now Mrs Vladimirescu, a vampire who is now married to another vampire. I'm a new vampire in New York, about to have wild vampire sex with my gorgeously wild vampire husband.

I honestly think I'm going to love being a vampire!!
