I picked at the dirt under my nails with a knife. "Hey Jack! What's up?!"

"Hey Ember," he said, holding out his hand.

I shoved my knife back in my dark metal combat boots and grabbed his hand.

"You're gonna help?" I asked.

He nodded. "Yea. I figured you'd like some help."

"Oy! Frostbite! Lassie! What are you doing? It's not even time yet-"

"BUNNY!" I cried, hugging the fluffy Australian jerk. "GUESS WHAT? I HATE YOU!"

And I flew off.

"Yea yea Emberly I hate you too now's that you screamed in my ears and hugged me. Well, I'm going back to my warren."

I rolled my eyes and touched down to the ground by a child's house where screaming and shouts were heard.

"You little brat!"

"Dad I-"

"You worthless excuse for a daughter, shut the hell up you whore!"

I entered the house and saw the child crying, a young girl who looked around age twelve.

I wanted to comfort her and as I touched her shoulder, it when right through her.

She looked up, staring right at me but she didn't see me.

"Child," I started. "You're safe. Someone will help you. You will be okay."

The child wrapped her arms around me. "You're Ember! The Guardian of Safety and Security!"

I hugged her back. "Tell me your name child. I will not harm you."

"My name is Dylan." She said.

I wiped her eyes. "Dylan, fear no more and go to the your neighbour's house. She will take care of you. Stay safe."

"I will! Thank you Ember!"

I watched as the whole scene unfolded, Dylan leaving, and finally having a safe home to live, no more bruises or cuts or scars or fear, she could finally be safe, as long as Sandy keeps her dreams safe too.

Now I just had to check in on two thousand and eight hundred children.

Well there's a lot more children than that.
