~Manager-chanKageyama x reader
(Y/N) POV
You had known Kageyama since the beginning of junior high. The two of you are really close and practically inseparable. The two of you were like a king and his queen. You knew Kageyama had become more aggressive during his last year at Kitagawa Daiichi. The two of you were still really close though, but sometimes you worry that Kageyama will break off this friendship.
Throughout the years, you have also started to fall for him. You were afraid to let him get out of your grasp. So you held on tight, not wanting to let go.
Today was your guys' first day at Karasuno High. You and Kageyama had immediately headed for the gym right after the opening ceremony. You noticed that Kageyama was a little hesitant.
"It's okay Tobi. You can start new here."
"I-I guess..." he said looking down, shyly.
You smiled at him and braved a volleyball and tossed it to him. He caught it with ease. You watched as he bounced it a few times, tossed it, and served it hard over the net.
You smiled and complimented him, making him blush a little. He had been working on his jump serves during the winter (I think schools start in around April in Japan?). You were quite proud of how much progress he made in a little over two months.
All of a sudden, you heard a loud, high-pitched scream. Both you and Kageyama jumped. You dropped the ball but it bounced back up and hit your face. Kageyama had already tossed his ball do his ball landed on his head.
"Ouch..."
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!"
You felt like you've seen this ginger haired boy somewhere before. He must also play volleyball or some sport, seeing as he is here at the gym. You furrowed your brows and shut your eyes. You rested your chin on one hand.
You thought back to Kageyama's match before the new school year. His last match...nope. Few matches before? Don't think so...What about the first match?
"Oh!" you smacked your fist into the palm of your other hand. He was the captain of the first team Kageyama had played. If you were correct, he was quite fast and had excellent reflexes.
After a few arguments and punishments, you were ready to go home. You got to know the rest of the team fairly well while waiting for their practice to end, with Kageyama and the ginger outside, probably still arguing.
"Tobi, let's go," you peeked your head outside. The two boys were up in each other's faces. They both turned around to face you. Kageyama gave the boy one last glare and grabbed you harshly.
"Let's go," he grumbled. You looked behind you and noticed that the ginger haired boy was still standing there, slightly shocked. Then he shook his head wildly.
"DON'T BE LATE!" he screeched. Kageyama just growled and rolled his eyes. You giggled. They were going to be great friends. You knew it.
(Time skip brought to you by...Kageyama's blueberry-ness!)
Tears streamed down your face as you watched Kageyama fall to the ground, devastated. Karasuno had just lost to Aoba Josai. You rushed down from the balcony to find the team. Once you saw Kageyama, you launched yourself at him.
You felt him stiffen a little, then he hugged back. He nuzzled his face into your neck. You felt his hot tears drop down your back, soaking your shirt.
Once you two were on your way home, you heard Kageyama sigh.
"It's all my fault," you heard him murmur, "I knew they'd predicted it...yet I..."
This comment made you very mad. It definitely wasn't his fault. The set up they had was perfect for that quick. You probably would've done that too. You tched and harshly grabbed the taller male's shoulders and spun him around so that he was facing you.
"KAGEYAMA TOBIO! Stop blaming yourself! They might've predicted it, but it was the perfect set up! Besides, everyone loses at some point so learn from your mistakes! Baka! I love you and it hurts me to see you suffer!" you yelled. You panted and thought over what you said.
You blushed immediately. You cringed a little and looked up at Kageyama. His whole face was really red. He shivered a little.
"Look, To—mphf!"
You were cut off by a pair of warm lips. You melted into the kiss and kissed back. Kageyama's lips were a little salty, probably from the tears. Once you two finally pulled apart, you blushed and looked away.
"Please, let me carry your crown for you. Let me help," you mumbled, blushing harshly.
You heard a little chuckle and looked up. Kageyama had a genuine smile on his face. The smile that you had missed so much. You also smiled.
"Thank you (f/n). Please take care of me," he bowed. You nodded and sniffed.
"Me too," you bowed.
He took your hand and the two of you continued in your way home. Kageyama was slowly learning to become a good king and to love again. You, being his queen, was your responsibility to help him. You smiled.
"Why are you smiling?" Kageyama asked, blushing.
"Hehe...Nothing."
