5:50pm

I should have waited for backup, but my curiosity got the better of me.

Riley, what do we got?

Get an ambulance over here, I'm going to check it out.

Copy that.

The kitchen was a scene from a horror movie, there was blood everywhere, and a large knife rested on the floor. Beer cans littered the living room that was torn apart. Jason, what did you get yourself into? I made my way towards the bathroom. All clean. The first bedroom was all clean, the office too. Then I came to the master bedroom and braced myself.

"Police! Stand down!" I yelled. Before I could kick in the door I heard loud muffled moaning. Grow some balls Riley, this is what you were born to do.

I kicked open the door and I could not believe my eyes. Marta was lain out on the bedroom floor, naked clutching the home phone. Her face was beaten unrecognizable and she suffered multiple puncture wounds and gashes. Where was Jason?

"Marta, I'm here it's detective Riley, can you understand me?" She gave me no indication, she just screamed and moaned in agony.

6:20pm

The ambulance and backup finally arrived. I ran out the front door, covered in Marta's blood. The paramedics rushed in and the cops stopped to talk to me and I gave them the run down. My guess is that Jason did this to Marta, but his truck was here and he was nowhere to be found. He left his phone, but we were waiting on forensics.

"Screw it." Said James, a young dark haired, muscular cop. He was fairly new but he knew his shit and I trusted his instincts. "Put it in a bag lets open it up we have to see where he's headed."

When we opened up the phone, we saw that his last text was to Will Morgan. It was barley readable, Jason was obviously not in a good condition, but he wanted Will to come over, and come quick. I knew Will, I went to high school with his father. They were a good family, good people. I don't know how Will got mixed up with Jason, but he might know something.

"James, why don't you come with me, We'll head over to Will's place. He just moved into the new complex outside of Jackson. I'll meet you at the station to drop off your car and get the address."

"Copy that."

7:15

When I got to the station James was already there waiting for me with the address. I took the long way, I needed a second to think. I always wanted more out of my job, I dreamed of a big break like this, but at what cost? And what if I couldn't solve this, do I really have what it takes to handle something like this? Surly this would be all over the news, I would have to make a public statement or some shit like that. This is all I ever wanted, so why did I feel so defeated and unprepared? When we got in my car it was 7:20, we would be at Will's by 8:00 the latest. Hopefully we could get a lead. If not, I sure as hell hope Marta can tell us something.
