Spark 04: The Pirate Hunter Thing in Japan

(probably dull, but whatevs)
I've been out of the issue for awhile, so forgive me if I got anything wrong(considering I get all my intel from ONE youtuber, it's probably not reliable either). I just don't have time, and my mood isn't the best right now while waiting for my Chinese O Level results. There's so much work dumped on me that even on weekends, I only have a measly few hours to myself for relaxation, and usually they are used to catch up on fanfictions and Youtube channels(NOT the more mainstream ones).
Enough about my shitty life(or lack thereof), and let's see what are the two cents I have to give about this shit. Here's literally all I know in a nutshell: Japan wants to stop piracy(in general I'm sure)and are using humans to hunt sites pirating anime illegally down to shut them down.
Pretty sure there's a good reason behind it, but still. I have seen both sides of the argument, and this is my opinion. MINE.
Personally, I do think that what Japan is planning is reasonable. Yes, I said it. Reasonable. (Go ahead and try to kill me you disrespectful bastard.) If we watch anime from illegal websites(KissAnime included), the producers of whatever anime you watch aren't going to get income. The more people who use these sites, the less income they will get overall, I reckon. The music industry in general likely faces the same issue, but we're here to talk about anime and manga and everything else we pirate from Japan.
Imagine being a producer of something you enjoy, be it otome(dating sim)games, videogames, music, art, books(not fanfictions) and so on and so forth. You copyrighted them, and earn decent income from your debut work. Then once you rise up to fame(or even if you don't), your work gets pirated and people discover and support your work illegally(being that they download it online FOR FREE)and not pay to enjoy your work. Your income will probably drop, right? At the very least, your salary will not grow as you expect it to. Heck, it might even be irregular.
That's the situation many of the entertainment industry is facing right now.
Most otakus I know come from America. (I don't know why, I mean come ON, I LIVE IN ASIA). As far as I know, North Americans lead a better life than I do in general. I mean, most adolescent kids probably own a current generation console and some really expensive phones and computer set-ups, and some probably eat fast/junk food half the week(probably more). I can see the point of paying a small fee to watch anime, and given some Americans' pampered lives, they have no reason not to.
But then, when paying for your anime, you don't know what you're paying for. It's like going into a new restaurant blind - you have close to no idea what food will taste good. This problem is likely very easily rectified. My suggestion to this: Depending on how many episodes an anime series will have, allow us to watch anywhere between one and three episodes, ad-free, to see if we will like it. If we don't, at least we aren't supporting what we have close to zero interest in.
There's another problem, however. The guys who use CrunchyRoll know what I'm talking about: The website does not have the full anime list and there's regional block, so even if the anime is available there's a chance you can't watch it anyway. This problem does occur to me in Singapore, considering how I can't watch Free!(a harmless anime in all honesty)over here. So I have to resort to KissAnime in order to watch the series.
If I want to support an anime but I am too financially instable to do so, a few seconds of ads won't bother me. What DOES bother me is this: everytime I click just ONCE, an ad pops up. If you can watch the whole anime without pausing, good for you. But me? I sometimes pause to fangirl over or get my thoughts out of my head(they aren't perverted ones), so this is definitely going to annoy me. Suggestion: Let us watch the accumulated ads at the end of the episode, please. It serves as a 'downtime' for me to play with my phone a little bit. And hey, the producers get the income they deserve, so it's a win-win situation for us both.
This whole rant feels kinda incomplete, but it's late and I'm tired. My mind probably isn't working properly right now. Also, forgive my inaccuracy throughout the whole thing.
Two extra suggestions to give before I close off
- Make KissAnime somehow legal
- Adblock is your new best friend when watching anime on CR on your phone/tablet/iPad.Cya, and expect an update soon on How to Annoy the KnB Crew!
- BlazingFyre
Fun Fact: I have a habit of pausing a scene showing my current anime bae when rewatching an anime and talking to myself, or looking up funny stuff on the internet through my phone. Right now, I'm typing this with one Laito Sakamaki(DL)on my computer screen, with a black cellphone.
RARE DARE: SEARCH UP DEEP WEB. To go one step furthur, see the definition of a Red Room. (I will not be hel responsible for your own actions if you do decide to venture into the DW and something does happen to you because of it, there's enough warnings when looking the goddamn thing up)
