"Here you are! Naughty girl, where did you go with your brother hah? Haish! I almost died with worry!"

The girl giggled but without any sound. Her bright eyes however answered the question.

"You got your brother to take you to the waterfall again, didn't you? This girl... Do you know how worried I was? When I got home and nobody's here? Haish! Where's your brother? Did you leave him?"

The girl shook her head, pouting as she pointed to her left. Slowly, a figure clad in faded black appeared in between the old trees and limped his way to them.

"Yin!"

"I'm sorry Mother." Voice gruff, the man apologized and took off the piece of cloth that covered his face revealing a horribly burnt flesh. However, none reacted cruelly to the sight. The little girl in fact clung to his waist with joy and he wordlessly hoisted her up despite his condition.

"Haish! You know I can never be mad at you. But Yin, don't indulge Mia so much. Especially now. We have to be careful."

"What's wrong, Mother? Is there any unwelcomed news from the market?" The scarred man asked, swaying his sister with care and making her smile asking for more.

"The worst." She informed with worried eyes as she led them both home. "Haish! Why are they here in Yani, really? Everyone knows the Great Emperor of Bakura and the Crown Prince are close acquaintances in the Academy but- Haish! They said they're here to offer protection but all of a sudden? Really? Who'd believed such words but the foolish Queen? There are words going around saying the Great Emperor came accompanied by all his 21 Generals too. Bringing those famed Death Warriors, even if he brought none of his army, isn't that too much for a friendly visit? Haish, I fear a terrible fate is upon us, Yin." She turned, only to realize her son had not moved a foot from his spot. "Yin? What's wrong?"

The little girl escaped from the man's loosened hold and ran to their house. Her movement at least brought him out of his misery as he bettered his expression.

"Yin?"

He shook his head, carefully making his way towards his anxious Mother. "I am fine, Mother."

She looked at him, obviously aware of his lie but said nothing as he limped past her.

"I'll be careful not to cross path with them, Mother, do not worry. I'll take care of Mia. I'll keep us safe... I promise."
