Finally a new chapter! It's a little short,  but I hope you guys enjoy! Leave your comments :)

We sat in a booth. I was across from Karlie,  and Ian sat next to me. The Mini-Market guy was across from him.

"I'm sorry, honey. What's your name?" asked Karlie.

"Lacey," I told her, sipping my water.

"Ah, pretty," she looked me over, "you work here?"

I nodded. I really wasn't in the mood to talk right now. Then again, she was being so nice that I couldn't just say no. I was trying to contain my attitude.

"You too, I'm guessing?" she directed her question towards Ian, and he said yes.

"You two look adorable together, " Karlie commented.

My eyebrows rose up in confusion. I could laugh hysterically right now, but I wasn't exactly in the mood to. I turned to Ian, waiting for him to say something, but all he did was smirk. I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not with him."

"Oh." she said awkwardly.

The room fell into a short silence, but I quickly tried to break it.

"Are you in school?" I asked her.

"College student, you?"

"I just graduated High School."

I actually had no plans for college. Although that's what I should be doing with mine and my parents' savings, I wanted to save the money to settle into my own place. I knew I couldn't stay with Veronica forever.

"What university do you want to go to?"

"I'm not looking into that right now." I simply told her, and her eyes seemed to be empathetic.

I appreciated that.

The room fell into a now more comfortable silence as we all ate our food. I hadn't really been hungry, so I had only ordered a salad. We talked more about some other things that didn't really interest me. I zoned out for a little, flooding myself in my thoughts again.

"Back to earth, Lacey."

I turned to see the Mini-Market guy looking at me. Of course, he was smirking.

"Try to keep the fantasizing to a minimum." he hinted.

I opened my mouth to say something snippy back, but my breath caught in my throat again when I caught his eyes.

Quickly, I snapped out of it and cleared my throat.

"Leave her alone, Trace." Karlie defended me, seeing that I had choked up.

So that was his name.

"He can be a jerk sometimes," Karlie smiled at me apologetically.

"I'm aware, although, that probably wouldn't have been my choice of an adjective." I looked at him, not letting his eyes trap me this time.

Karlie laughed, "I like you." she told me, and I chuckled.

"I really appreciate the meal, but I should get going..."

I got up, putting my jacket on. I made my way out of the booth with Ian in front of me.

"Perhaps we couls hang out some other time?" Karlie asked hopefully. I smiled at her and nodded. We exchanged phone numbers, and walked out of the restaurant together, with the two of them behind Ian and me.

When we reached the lot, Trace asked, "You need a ride home?"

"No, Ian's dropping me. Thanks." He nodded, and we said our goodbyes before we got into separate cars.

"I like them." Ian said on our way home.
