The girl (Yui) was sent by her father to her mother’s hometown. It was a small town at the north of Busan. She knew her father would sooner or later be tired of taking care of her. Since she was a child, she was regarded as the black sheep of the family. She had two older siblings who are already working in Seoul. They were successful unlike her; she had caused troubles in school.

Perhaps, if she had a one goal or dream; then she would have become a better daughter and a better person. But actually, she really did her best to be a good daughter. It’s just that circumstances didn’t favor her, now that she’s already been labeled as black sheep.

Although she didn’t want to go to that small village, she just did. Because for her, it is perhaps her last chance to prove that she is a good daughter. Sounds  cheesy?

She arrived at an old typical house. It seemed like it was a restaurant before; but a sign “closed” shows so perhaps the business didn’t go well. She knocked the door three times. But none answered. When she was about to knock the door the fourth time, someone slightly opened the door, just narrow enough for one’s head to pop out.

“This is Geum restaurant, but we are already closed. So…” the boy with dark curls looked at her groggily. When he was about to close again the door, Yui stopped him by blocking the window with her boots. “Oh, it’s not that. I’m Byul Yui, daughter of Byul Kam Shik and Geum On Sae. My father sent me here and…” she persistently placed her head on the narrow opening to peep inside.  “Oi, not so fast lady. You’re in someone else home,” the child banged his head with her chin to back her away.

“Is this how you treat a visitor Min Choo?” an old woman appeared in the doorway and pulled the right ear of that young boy. Perhaps she is the owner of this restaurant and that young boy is her grandson.

“No, I am just the caretaker of this house. This is not actually mine. It is my daughter’s. And that young boy, Min Choo, is adopted. You would need one if you grow up to be an old maid someday,” the old woman opened the door and smiled at her.
