Chapter 5: Realizations

Later, she realized that he is a mute. And that he was the one who threw the bread at her.

She will have enemies from her female classmates because their popular guy (airhead) become interested with her. But her mute friend would rescue her.

He taught her how things in the farm work. She introduced him to the old woman. They would invite him over to their house.

They rested under a tree after a long time of planting and harvesting. But of course she was only planting a few and rested more. She whistled and sang a soothing song. He was captivated by her song. He played the guitar for her. She was fascinated by it.

It was her birthday and everyone at home are preparing. The old woman and Min Choo went to another town to buy some cake, so the old woman told her to stay. She was cooking a little. Someone knocked to the back door. It was her mute friend. She told herself, it will not be long that she will be out. So she turned off/ put out the fire. It was not yet dark, so perhaps it is alright.

He leads her to a small canoe. When they arrived at their destination, there was a flowerbed and a small tree house. It was supposed to be his gift to her. He tried to talk. And there came a voice. He stuttered a lot, but it way better than not being able to talk.

He played a song with his guitar and showed to her the lyrics to the song. It was the poem she wrote in their English class that was praised by their teacher. She tried singing it with his tune. It was a good song. If only she could stay that way for the rest of the day. She fell asleep.

Unexpectedly, someone waked her up. She can feel the nervousness of the person who woke her up. There was noise but not really a voice. She saw her mute friend trying to show him. Ow, right it was already dark. His friend shook his head. She lifted her sight and saw a burning house. A house on fire.
