I walk outside and look around the house; woods in every direction. Which way would he go? He did leave through the front door, so maybe he went to the right... Or maybe the left... I think I should go to the right and Elijah did say that I would know, so I guess I'll go with my instinct. I head into the vast line of trees and push my way through some tall bushes. I walk for a good fifteen minutes before I hear someone screaming. I quicken my pace as I hear Klaus' voice.

"Oh, don't worry, sweetheart, I'll make sure it's quick." I run into a clearing and with vampire speed, knock the woman out of Klaus' grasp. I grab her shoulders and make her look at me. "Run! Forget you were ever here." She takes off in the opposite direction as I turn back to Klaus. "Is killing someone really going to solve your problems?" I ask as he just glares at me. "Are you gonna speak or are we just gonna stand here all night?"

"He told you, didn't he?" He mutters.

            "Yes and showed me, actually."

"And yet you're still here. I figured you'd be half way across the state by now."

I raised an eyebrow. "And why would I do that?"

He certainly wasn't expecting my answer. "Oh, come on, Grace. I'm a monster now, I'm not the person I used to be. Not that you remember that person anyway..."

"Oh stop feeling sorry for yourself... Now, I say we start over again. You never know, you might not be as bad as you think."

He shakes his head. "I'm afraid you'll be highly disappointed."

"Well, I'll be the judge of that. What do you say? Drink?" I ask and give him a hopeful smile. Man, if Damon was here, he would totally be preaching my funeral. I just asked a crazy, psychotic hybrid out... Or at least, that's what most people thought of him as.

"Only if it involves strong alcohol."

I chuckle, "What else would it involve?"

He reluctantly follows me to the Mystic Grill. When we walk in, I notice the late crowd is just starting to roll in, which only mean one thing; Damon would be here soon. Late night drinking had become his feeding time and there was no doubt Elena would follow along...

"What are you thinking about?" Klaus asks as we sit down at the bar.

           "Nothing." I add quickly.

"Oh, it must be something. It seems to have upset you..."

I shrug. "Shouldn't you already know? Isn't that what the bond does?"

"Right now, I can only read your emotions, reading your mind would take getting to know you. Now, what's upset you?" That's not creepy at all.

Before I could answer him, I heard that voice. The same one I was hoping wouldn't show up... "Elena, we should hurry. I want to be home when Grace returns." Damon mutters. I turn slightly in my chair and see them both walk in. I quickly turn back around, as Klaus looks behind me.

"Damon Salvatore..." He mutters under his breath. "He's the one you're upset about?" I don't answer, I just order a round of shots from the bartender. "You fell in love with him? Didn't you?"
