"Indestructible? But you're an original? Weren't you always immortal?" I ask, wondering if this could even be possible.
Before Klaus could answer, Bonnie spoke up. "Yes, but now, you are too. The longer you two spend together, the more power you will have. It's kind of like when I first discovered I was a witch. I could make things float and make a candle burn, but now look at me. I can do almost anything, and I think you two can do the same." Bonnie adds as I sit down on the couch, trying to gather my thoughts.
"So, are you saying that we're some kind of supernatural creature?" I ask.
Elijah responds. "I'm afraid I don't really know how to explain it... It's like a gift from nature. I always thought it was a myth until you first met, then I did a little research, but it's still unlikely that two people with the same auras get the gift. It's only happened twice since the world began, at least that we know of."
That voice. It's back. "Why does everyone suddenly count me out of everything interesting?" Damon asks, walking through the door. Why must he ruin everything?
I groan. "Did you ever think we didn't want you here? Ya know, I don't recall inviting you." He doesn't say anything, he just looks at Stefan, who refuses to make eye contact with him. "Why do I have the feeling something bad just happened?"
"Nothing happened, Damon, but you should go." Bonnie adds as he just stares at her.
Damon studies her. "You see, I think you're lying..."
Klaus looks at me for a second, but I can't say anything. All these people are making me claustrophobic. "Bonnie, can I talk to you alone, please?" I ask as she nods. We start to leave the living room, but I stop and look back at Klaus. "Please be nice while I'm gone and don't kill him," I refer to Damon. "If you ever do, I'd like to at least witness it." He chuckles as I walk off and catch up with Bonnie. "You know that I trust you, you've never given me a reason not to..."
"Of course." She nods.
"Is this gift dangerous?"
"Well, it depends... It's just like any other supernatural power. It can be used for good or evil, but from what I could tell, it's very pure. Something I wasn't expecting from him... It's like your good spirit takes over his bad."
"Can we still go through with the compulsion?"
She shrugs. "I don't see why not. You two may be tired afterwards, but it does take a lot of energy to do something like that... Other than that, you should be fine."
I take a shaky breath in relief. I know she's telling the truth, but I can't help but wonder. What if something does go wrong? "I think we need to go back inside." She mutters suddenly. I meet her gaze and realize something's wrong...
We quickly walk back inside and see Elijah and Stefan standing in the entrance of the living room. "You're an original, Klaus. You can have whoever you want, so drop her and get out of town. You know that's what's best for her." Damon says sternly.
"And what? Leave her here with you, mate? Now, I don't think that'd be very smart of me, now would it?" Exactly, I'll never be happy with Damon, so what gives him the right to make decisions for me?
