Chapter Five

Harry's POV.

I woke up to the climbing sun peeking over the horizon and shining through the window, and rolled over on my stomach to stop it from hitting my eyes. I really had to remember to cover the damn thing with the curtains before going to bed. They were there for that sole purpose, but for some reason the world would never know I tended to forget that.

I had covered my head with the comforter with the intention of going back to sleep, but yesterdays incident entered my mind before I got the chance to shut it down. Immediately, all the sleep ran away from my eyes, and I was left awake as ever with no chances at falling back to sleep at all.

Groaning, I turned back to my side and fumbled around on my nightstand for my phone. The numbers told me it was a quarter past six in the morning.

The idea of waking up early on my last potential day to sleep in before we had to go back to touring wasn't appealing, but I had no choice.

After brushing my teeth and putting descent clothes on I went down to the catering to have some breakfast. I wasn't expecting anyone to be up yet, so it surprised me to see Lauren sitting by the corner of the same restaurant we'd eaten at the previous day. She was sitting alone by a table for two with untouched waffles in front of her, looking out the window.

After getting some toast, apple juice and a few waffles of my own I joined her. She didn't look up until I pulled on the vacant chair.

"Harry?" Her voice was raspy; she coughed to clear it.

"Lauren. What are you doing up?"

"Still adjusting from the American time zone." A weak smile.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't you still be asleep now then? I'm fairly sure it is a couple of hours earlier there than here." Unless I'd completely gotten it backwards in school, that is.

"Oh, right."

So I was right then. There was something else bothering little missy over here.

"Still thinking about the note?" I wondered how much she'd found out about it so far. Didn't she say she was going to search it for fingerprints?

"How can I not?" A part of her mind had still been wandering off. It wasn't before now she gave me her full attention. "It is still beyond my understanding how he got into the studio without anyone seeing him. And how he knew you well enough to predict you were going to touch the usually untouched fruit basket. Either he has spent a huge amount of time stalking you, or..." She trailed off, but I didn't need a second change at guessing where she was heading at.

Unless he was one of us.

One of the people associated with us on a daily basis. I felt goosebumps appear on my naked forearms. That surely would explain why he knew us so well.

I shook off the uneasy feeling. This was ridiculous! We had nothing to worry about. Like Paul had said, nobody would be able to pass the security.

I decided to change the subject. "So what are the plans for today?"

"I was planning on going to my hotel room. All my stuff are there and I need them." She started nibbling on her waffles.

"I can come with you. And you can check out of that hotel and move in here." Her rhythmic chewing stopped, and she stared at me.

"Move in here?"

"Yes, it would make your work so much easier," I replied. "You could stay in a room on our floor." She'd spoken as if I'd said something I should have not.
