Chapter Ten
Harry's POV.
The familiar feeling of a plane descending sent a wave of calmness through me. At least this one thing, touring, still was the same in my life. Despite the new strange things that have been happening I at least was in a known element now. The bad guys would hardly follow us all around the world, right?
Usually plane rides would bore me. After our first years together as a band, the fun I'd been experiencing in flying ever since being a kid, had started to wear off until coming to what it is today: A part of my job.
But this time it had been different. Lauren's presence made everything so much better. I was sure she could even make a boring civics lesson interesting and fun. She spread joy around her, that was the kind of person she was.
Now she was laughing with Niall about something that probably wasn't even remotely funny. Her joyous laughter sounded like chiming bells, and I found myself smiling without having any idea what it was that was amusing them.
As the pilot announced that we were about to reach our final destination and therefore had to sit down and fasten our seat belts, Lauren came back to her seat on my left.
"I can't believe I'm actually getting to tour the world with you guys!" She exclaimed while fiddling with the seatbelt. Just as I contemplated reaching out to help her the click sounded, indicating she'd managed to do the job herself.
"It's great, isn't it?" I agreed. This would be the best tour so far.
If we survived it, that is.
I pushed away the negative and utterly silly thought from my mind. Of course we were surviving this.
"You are going to be staying and traveling in your tour bus now, aren't you?" She asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah, until we change continent, we'll be touring with the bus."
"So where am I supposed to stay?" She asked, cocking her head to one side. It was a good thing I'd already had this talk with management and thus had the answer to her question.
"You'll be staying in the extra bunk on the bus, just like what Camryn did last year."
She nodded slowly, thoughtfully. "Who's Cameryn?" I mentally slapped myself; I understandably couldn't expect her to know who Cameryn was. Obviously.
"She was our opening act on our last tour, but only in Europe, though," I explained.
"Oh, ok. Who is your opening act this time?"
"Five Seconds Of Summer. They are the Australian band we mentored in the Australian X-factor two years ago." She pursed her lips at that and nodded, probably over thinking this trivial fact. "They won't be staying with us on the bus. There is no room," I added.
She laughed. "I know, Harry. I was just trying to recall something my sister once said about them."
I felt the plane finally tilt forward, and pushed myself back on my seat against the backrest. "You have a sister?" It hadn't once come to my mind that she had a family.
"Yup, Autumn. She's 15 and really into this boy band you may know. They're called One Direction." I laughed.
"They sound familiar. I might have heard of them," I said, playing along with her game.
"She totally freaks out over them, but honestly I don't see what the big deal is." She looked at me, expecting me to react in some way, or possibly blow up. That was so not happening.
