Ch.4 The Long Game

The next day, while Maya was having lunch at Riley's place, Josh entered.

"Sup fam?" he smiled.

"Well hello" Maya said with a flirty smile as she twirled her hair.

"Well hello" Josh smiled back in a flirty way as he pretended to twirl his hair.

Maya couldn't help but giggle as he gave a chuckle.

"Well look at you lovebirds" Riley smiled.

"Riley" Josh said "We're still not together."

"Yet" Maya added with a smirk.

"What are you doing here?" Cory asked him.

"Oh I uh, I just need to talk to Maya for a moment."

"Ooooooo" Riley and Auggie grinned.

"Stop it."

He then went up to Maya.

"So uh-" he started to say, until he saw that everyone was staring at them "Would you all go away please?"

"Oh right" they all said surprised as they got up.

"We'll be in our rooms" Riley said "Pretending not to listen."

And with that they went away, leaving Josh and Maya alone.

"Hey" he smiled at her.

"Hey" she smiled back.

"So uh, how you been?"

"Good, you?"

"Good."

"So what did you want to talk to me about?"

"Oh well uh, remember our little promise?"

"Yeah."

"Well I was thinking, while we wait until the moment, why don't we take one step at a time?"

"What do you mean?"

"Even though we have to wait until we're older, that doesn't mean we can go on a few dates."

"Wait" she smiled "Are you saying-".

"Yes" he smiled "Maya, would you like to go on a date with me?"

Maya gave a big smile as she felt her heart flutter.

"I thought you'd never ask" she smiled as he smiled back.

"So that's a yes?" he asked.

"Of course it's a yes" she smiled as she gave a small laugh.

"Well then" he smiled "How would you like to go that new Art Museum that just opened it downtown?"

"An art museum with you? I would love that."

But as they were smiling at each other, they didn't notice Riley and her family peeking from behind the wall watching them.

"Oh and one more thing" Josh said as he turned to the Matthews "You guys can stop watching us now."

At that point they all stood there surprised, not knowing what to do.

"It was his idea!" they all pointed to Cory as they ran away.

Cory then gave a fake smile before running away.

So later that night, Maya and Josh had their date at the Art Museum. They both had a fun time looking at the arts, talking, and taking pictures. And by the time it was over, they both went to 'Topanga's' where they sat on the couch and looked at the pictures.
