The entire way home from my therapy session my playlist rotated between Keyshia Cole's 2008 album A Different Me and Beyonce's latest album Lemonade. These two women sure know how to make someone get all IN their feelings. As I pull up to our 4500 square foot, five-bedroom, four and a half bath home in Smyrna, I can't help but think about how we've come this far but yet we've made it to this. It is as if we live like booty call roommates now instead of a married couple. Things between us are not the same anymore and I'm unsure on how it has come to this.
I wish we were that big happy family that I've always dreamt of having as a young child but we are not. I must admit, it is a pretty painting that I show off. It is only an illusion to our audiences because when it is just us alone it is a messy canvas. Thank goodness our children are not caught up in our drama. Sometimes they see us snap at each other but I dead it fast because I do not like carrying on in front of the children. Hassan, on the other hand, acts as if he does not care if they are around or not but that was not how I saw things growing up and I refuse to act in the manner in front of children.
Hassan and I share a total of six children combined. We have four boys and two girls with each other. As you know he already had two from his previous marriage and they are boys, I already had two boys and then we had a boy and girl together over the years. Our oldest child is a 12-year old boy that is working my nerves every chance he gets. "Mama I need this...Mama, I need that" is all I hear out of that child's mouth. I spoiled the heck out of these children so in all actuality it is my fault. Well let me get in this house and set the table before Hassan gets home with that stinking attitude that he's been having for a while now. I promised him that I would have his dinner made and ready to eat when he gets home this evening. I really am not in the mood to hear his mouth or look at his face all balled up.
