I couldn't just leave the prologue with nothing else... So here is the first chapter. I hope it's good. I'm still in the beginning stages, but hopefully this turns out good.

Comment and tell me what you think? Please? Lol.

Thanks and Happy Readings! (:

Chapter One:

Modern Day, Olympus, Nemesis' Temple

"Why Seattle?" Maddox asked Nemesis. She was sitting on her throne, having her long, black hair brushed by one of her servant maids.

"Because demons have been working overtime there, hurting innocent people. Not to mention the Holders." Nemesis was the goddess of vengeance, so it wasn't anything knew to hear her getting angry at injustice. Because of the abundance of demons, not to mention the opening of Pandora's Box, Nemesis created an army; a group of warriors. "Take Lucien and Radek too."

Great, Maddox though. Those two didn't get along too well.

"That is true," Nemesis said. It didn't shock him anymore when she did that. She could read his, and most anyone else's mind as easily as if they had spoken out loud. "Anya will go as well."

"Anya never goes anywhere without Khalyn."

Nemesis shrugged. "Then they both shall go. The more who go, the faster the threat will be taken care of, yes?"

Maddox hated when she was all nonchalant. "When do you want us to leave?"

Nemesis looked at Maddox, "now would be fine."

"Now?"

She nodded. "Yes. There is someone in trouble right now."

Maddox knew Nemesis could sense when someone was being wronged. It was how she found him on the battlefield all those long years ago.

"Go. I will inform the others of their assignment. A Holder is being stalked."

Maddox instantly went on alert. He nodded once to Nemesis before leaving in a blur of flame and smoke.

Modern Day, Seattle

Cassie was walking fast, picking up speed when she heard heavy breathing, and even heavier footsteps. She wasn't sure how many demons were on her, but she sure as hell didn't want to find out. She looked over her shoulders and saw the blur of bodies. She gulped and felt her heart rate pick up. She was getting tired of running. It was too bad she had no real control over her fire element.

She took a turn down an alleyway and instantly regretted it. It was a dead end. She ran to the end, and placed a hand on the concrete wall.

"I guess I don't have to keep running," she said, releasing a cynical laugh. Then she whipped around when she heard approaching footsteps.

"The mouse has no where to run now," a voice sounded. It sounded evil, cruel. Cassie suppressed a shudder, not wanting them to know how scared she was.

"We're going to enjoy this, you know?" a second voice chimed in. Through the shadows, Cassie could only see the glowing red eyes. "It's been a while since we had something as tasty as a Holder."

There was that word again. She started hearing it shortly after her father died when these guys tried to take her when she was at the park with her foster family. Ever since her father died, Cassie had no other family to speak of. He had told her about her ability and that bad people would try and kill her for it, but Cassie didn't understand any of it. She was only ten and her father died before he could explain anymore. After that she went into foster care. Cassie was lucky enough to have nice foster parents, who had two kids her age, but it wasn't anything like the real family she wanted.

"Just get it over with," Cassie said through clenched teeth. If they were going to kill her, she wanted it over and done with.

"Oh, don't get all hasty," the first voice said. "I like to savor my meals." Once the words were out of his mouth, Cassie felt a hand around her throat, her body slamming against the concrete wall behind her.

Cassie cried out at the pain.

"That's better. I like the taste of fear."

Cassie couldn't help it this time, she shuddered. Now that the demon was close up, she had a good look at him. He didn't look any different from any human. In fact, he was attractive. Golden brown hair, fair skin, square jaw, a slight stubble. The only off thing about him was the glowing red eyes, not to mention he was a demon who wanted to eat her.

The second demon moved in closer, and he looked like he could have been demon number one's twin. "What element do you have sweet?"

The way he said sweet was anything but an endearment. Cassie wanted to spit in his face and tell him to go to hell, but her throat was being constricted.

"Well, we'll find out soon enough, hmm?"

Cassie shut her eyes, preparing herself for her death. She felt fingers trailing her face but other than that, nothing happened. She opened one eyes slightly only to find her captors head missing; she could see blood gushing from his neck. Cassie felt bile file up her stomach when she heard a thud. She turned her face and completely forgot everything else for a second.

A man, a very tall man, was standing above the now dead demon, a sword-were those flames surrounding it?-in one hand. He had on black pants and nothing else, besides a single cross dangling around his neck. He had dark midnight black hair cut short, and Cassie could see a huge scar on his chest. Other than that, Cassie could see anything else. His face was casted downward and Cassie watched as he lifted a hand towards the body of the demon. Then, the body was in flames. Once that was underway, the man turned toward her and Cassie froze. His face looked like it was sculpted by the gods. He had a pair of the darkest eyes she had ever seen, high cheekbones. He emitted pure masculinity and power. He looked directly at Cassie.

"Are you alright?" He said, and the voice was as incredible as the rest of him. He walked up to her and shoved the demon, whose hand was still around her throat, to the ground. Doing the same as with the last demon, the dead body was covered in flames. Then his gaze returned to Cassie.

"Are you well?" His eyes filled with concern for a moment, then his expression changed. "Don't move," he ordered her, before he turned around and said loudly, "come out."

At his words, a demon jumped out of the shadows and started to attack the man. He read the attack too well, for he side-stepped before the demon reached him. With a flick of his wrist, his flaming sword slashed down, and ended the demons life. Cassie fell to her knees. This was so much crap to process right now. She was exhausted and scared and maybe a little delusional.

Her savior turned around to face her again. "You are safe now," he said.

Cassie huffed. "Not likely."

"You will be." Suddenly Cassie was feeling tired, more so than she already was. The last thing she heard was, "Shit Radek," before she collapsed.

"What was that for Radek?" Maddox asked, lifting the limp body of the female Fire Holder in his arms. Radek was also a Reaper who was a Life Holder before his death. He was able to control the will of people.

"She was dead on her feet." Radek shrugged. "I did her a favor."

"Then, please, tell me. Where are we going to take her? I have no idea where she lives, or who she is."

Radek shrugged.

"Take her with us," a female voice sounded. He watched as Anya walked out of the shadows. Anya was a Water Holder before her death, and now she was the kindest of all the Reapers. "Khalyn and I would enjoy some female company."

"We can't bring her to Nemesis' temple." Lucien. Maddox watched as Lucien, an Earth Holder before death, walked out of the shadows.

"Well, we're here until the demon problem is contained, right?" Anya asked. "We're staying in a house a few blocks down. Take her with us."

"I agree." Khalyn finally spoke.

Maddox sighed. "Fine. She comes with us."
