Percy

"Perce, honey, I need to talk to you" my mom says opening my bed room door. I pause my video game and look at her, "yeah, mom?"

She comes in and takes a seat next to me on my bed. "Are you okay?"

"What do you mean?" I ask my mom, "yeah of course I am"

"I noticed, you um, mumble in your sleep" my mom said, "it's nothing as bad as you used to, it's just that i'm concerned for you, I couldn't bare for you to have those dreams again" I notice tears forming in her eyes. I hug my mom making sure to let her know that I'm fine.

"Mom it's okay, I'm fine" I tell her, honestly, "promise"

My mom hugs me tightly, "I love you Percy" and she kisses my fore head.

"love you too mom" I say. The door bell rings, I get up, "I'll get it"

I walk down the steps to the front door to answer it. The door bell rang once again and I opened the door to find Paul. "Hey! Percy!" Paul greets me and ruffles my hair.

"Hey Paul" I say greeting him with a smile and fixing my hair, I definitely like the dude, he seems cool, he's better than that retard my mom dated, Gabe, I don't why she did in the first place, probably cause she needed a start on a job, that could be the only reason. But anyway this guy is a hundred times more better than Gabe! I could never put up with that guy, I don't know how my mom handled that guy for that long.  

Paul steps inside our house and closes the door behind him. "Is your mom here?"

"Yeah she's up stairs, do you want me to call her?" I said.

"No, not yet" Paul said "first I need to tell you something that you need to keep between us"

"What is it?" I asked.

"Well, I'm going to ask Sally to marry me" Paul says.

"It's about time, man!" I said.

"Excuse me?" Paul says with an amused grin.

"I mean I knew it was coming, it just took you a long freaking time to finally ask her!" I said.

Paul laughed, "Alright kid, so I have your blessing?"

I patted his back, "Yeah you do, you better take good care of her" I say.

"I will, don't worry" Paul said.

"In sickness and in health?" I say joking around.

"I do" Paul says playing along with me.

"Paul" my mom says walking down the stairs, they both walk up to each other and kiss.

"Ew, child still present" I say covering my eyes joking around, I love to see my mom happy, and if Paul makes her happy than I'll gladly give my blessing. Paul and mom laugh and just to annoy me they kiss again. I groan, "I'll be upstairs" I tell them.

"Texting Annabeth" Paul teased.

"You don't want to go there" I warned reminding him I know his secret, just like that the proposal won't be much of a surprise anymore. I kidding I would never do that, I'm not cruel. Paul put his hands up in surrender. Yeah you better, Paul.

I walk into my room and close the door behind me I lay on my bed and begin to text Annabeth.

"Hey, guess what?" I say putting my arms around Annabeth on the way to wait for the school doors to open.

"What?" Annabeth asked. 

"Paul is going to propose to my mom" I said, it was alright that I could tell Annabeth, my mom was the one who can't find out.

"That's great!" Annabeth squealed.

"Yeah" I smiled at the thought of my mom being happy with the man she loves and the thought about a dad. Maybe just even a sibling, I mean except her, she's far from me and I don't think she'll ever come back, and if she does, I don't think she'll even remember me, I don't think her uncle would even let her remember me. That bastard, I always hated him, he treated her so poorly, I like Gabe better than her uncle. I would take her away from him and let her live with me and my mom and Paul, so we could be a family, but the problem with that is I don't know where she is! It's my father's fault! Everything is! He caused all this to happen, while he was married to my mom, he was dating another woman and got her pregnant, the woman and my mom turned out to be friends, how long did my dad think he'll be able to pull that off?! The woman had my half sister, ever since the day my mom and that woman found out about my dad, the same day he just left both his families, with no apology, no explanation, no nothing! the woman didn't know how to handle it, she was also young, she left my half sister, no one knows what happened to her mother, my half sister was left with her uncle being her only family, and doesn't know crap on how to raise a child. He beats her, harasses her, and treats her like a piece of shit! My mom was going to take custody over her and put that bastard in jail, but he moved out of the state and my mom doesn't know where they headed off to, she tried to find her, but they couldn't. Anyway this is a whole differently story (hint hint, because it is! Yup I'm writing a story about her!) I got interrupted by my thoughts from Annabeth calling my name.

"Oh, uh, yeah?" I ask.

"Are you okay?" Annabeth asked.

That question again. "What do you mean?"

"You started smiling then after a little while you just started frowning and glaring at the ground clenching your fists" Annabeth said.

"Really?" I asked. I didn't notice I was doing that. Annabeth placed her hand in mine and I released my hands out of fists and held onto Annabeth's hand. She pecked my cheek, "I thought you'd be happy about Paul being your step father, you said you liked the guy"

"I do, and he's not the problem it's just that I remembered an old memory" I said. Annabeth squeezed my hand, "what is it?" she asked.

"I'm not really ready to tell you about her yet" I say. 

"Oh, uh okay" Annabeth said. 

That came out wrong! "I didn't mean it as in like a girl I used to date or anything... I'll just stop talking"

Annabeth laughs, "It's okay Percy, you could tell me any time you feel is a good time"

"Thanks Annie!" I say and Annabeth smacks my stomach. 

"Don't call me Annie" Annabeth says.

"Sorry wise girl" I say.

Annabeth doesn't say anything when I call her wise girl, she acts annoyed when I say it but I know she likes it when I call her that, like when she calls me seaweed brain, I know it's an insult, but it's cute when she says it.
