Chapter 3

It was not long after my first day that I found myself in amongst a new group of friends. Having been rejected from all the other cliques, my friends had eventually formed a group of their own-and this is what I had been accepted into.

A mix of personalities and interests combined, every lunchtime proved to be fascinating in itself. Of course there was the sporty boy, the girly girl and the rebellious-natured members. The artsy type, the ambitious one and funny one all came together as if to perform a show for me. I had never seen something so hilarious and strange. But, there was always a sense of curiosity when it came to me.

They always wanted to know if I had spoken to Christos, if I had seen him, if I had figured out why he had taken such an interest into me. I know none of these things but that never stopped them.

He didn't speak to me after my first day yet I always felt eyes on me. And they were always his.

CHRISTOS' POV

At first, I tried to ignore her-but what use would that do?

Even though I knew ignoring her wouldn't work, I steered clear of her. But she always seemed to be there when I was least expecting her.  Her shock of blond hair and mesmerising blue eyes always rendered me speechless.

The day I finally spoke to her I was not in the best of moods. My Physics teacher had previously told me off for yet again not revising for a test when I stomped out the classroom on the way to lunch.

Stuffing my bag into my locker, I entered the lunch hall to see a ring of students in the centre of the hall. The shouts which sounded after were not needed for me to rush over.

Standing in the centre of the circle was Evie. And Oliver.

"Leave me alone, you jerk!" Evie screamed.

Amused laughs came from the ring.

"I haven't done anything to you. Will you stop overreacting?" Oliver explained through gritted teeth.

Evie scoffed; "Yeah, right. You and that....that-" her eyes locked with mine; "Christos. You two have been acting weird since the day I got here. "

"Oh. My-" Oliver shouted.

"What's going on?" I interrupted him, stepping into the circle.

"Ask him." Evie's cheeks turned red from anger, just the way Alexia's used to.

"I told her." Oliver said quietly.

I froze. "What?"

Oliver crossed his arms and stared at Evie with a deep frown on his face.

My mouth hung open but soon enough I grabbed Oliver's arm and pushed through the crowd.

"What?" I shouted at him when we had stepped into the corridor.

"It just came out, Chris. I couldn't help it!" Oliver pleaded.

"You can't just go around saying to girls they look exactly like my dead best friend!"

"Your best friend? You know Christos, you weren't the only one to lose a best-friend that day." Oliver said calmly and began walking away.

My anger boiled over; "No. You're wrong. I lost two that day."

Oliver paused but continued walking away. The minute those words escaped my mouth, I slapped myself inwardly for daring to say those things.

EVIE'S POV

I thanked God when the day ended. All I wanted to do was rush home and never think about this day ever again but I knew that wouldn't be possible.

I was only ten minutes from my house when I heard my name in the cold air. I tried to ignore it and run home but soon enough, the voice grew louder and louder until it was upon me.

I turned on my heel to see Christos jogging to catch me, worry etched on his face.

"What do you want?" I snapped. Although I was feeling shame for how I had reacted earlier that day, I couldn't let anyone see me vulnerable-it went against every particle of my body.

"I want to apologise for Oliver." He said simply.

The words hit a sensitive spot but I made my expression blank and stared at him. His eyes grew wide with patience and curiosity and I saw his fingers itching by his side. The air was still around us, birds chirping in the background.

"OK." I replied and turned my back on him.

"Hey!" I heard the slight smile in his voice as he ran to stand opposite me.

"Yes?" I raised my eyebrows. "Is there a reason you're standing in my way?"

He laughed; "There's no reason to be so feisty. I haven't done anything to you!"

My body was frozen from shock.

"I understand this may be a little strange fror you..." He began.

"A little?" I pushed past him-I was hell bent on staying the same old me.

"Yeah. But please realize that Oliver is never like that. He's usually the wiser one out of us."

"I can imagine that." I teased him maliciously.

He smiled; "Forgive him."

I stopped to face him; "He hasn't apologised. When he does, maybe I will."

"Alexia, come on! It's just weird for us." Christos pushed the matter further.

"Alexia?" I asked dumbfoundedly.

He sighed; "Let's just not talk about her. It's about time we got over her anyway."

"Seriously?" I almost shouted.

Without looking back, I took up a run and raced away from Christos.

CHRISTOS' POV

Before I knew what I had done, she was gone.

 Alexia was gone.

Dammit. It's Evie.

Thanks for reading!! I'm on Christmas holidays so now that my mocks are over (!), I am free to post as much as possible ;)

I would really like to explore these characters further but be warned; this is no ordinary love story. I'm slightly sick of the vampire/werewolf/teacher-student/incestual love stories so I want to write something completely different and see if anyone likes it. If not, then that's fine-it's an experiment.

Be expecting uploads twice a week :)
