Her White Knight.

Chapter 1 - White Knight indeed.

The sun had rose exquisitely, its light shimmering upon the currently calm seabed. The rays could be seen from across the Kingdom, proving light at the end of the darkened night.

From upon the castle balcony she stood, admiring the scene before her with a depressing smile on her features. Soon to be Queen of this land - of this glorious land - filled with kind, brave souls - such brave souls - and yet it felt more of a prison sentence. To the redhead it felt as if she was wrapped in chains, unable to breathe or remove herself from their tight grasp.

Her gaze remained fixed upon the fjord, her hands clutching tightly, almost protectively over a journal - her mothers possession before she had passed. Idun's words of wisdom is what kept her alive, that kept her from crumbling down into a heap on the floor, willing for her eyes to remain forever closed.

An elder woman was frantically rushing around behind her, setting clothes and any other accessory's she apparently needed. The woman placed a hand on her shoulder, her face filled with care, and it warmed the girls heart - oh Gerda.

"Your highness, it's time to get ready," her voice was smooth with a tenderness to it, it could make any living breathing soul calm. "I'm sure her highness shall enjoy today's events." Ah, yes, today's events - the knighting ceremony - the one and only White Knight. It was for told that he was fearless, selfless, all things a person dreams to be; he was a good soul, seeking only protection to others.

"I'm sure no one will notice my presence," came the small response. Yes, today was a special day, one which she'd most likely never witness again, but somehow it didn't bother her, nothing seemed to anymore; it was a fact: she was becoming numb.

Gerda shook her head with a sigh, a small smile washed over her features, and Anna studied it; she couldn't detect pity, only sympathy. "I'm sure the King shall notice your presence, him and the whole entire Kingdom." She attempted to make the young woman feel better, for it was a glorious day, however her words were only heard for briefest of moments.

It took biting the insides of her mouth to keep her tears at bay; the taste of copper invading her taste buds - unpleasantly - working a treat.

She swallowed thickly, ridding the arising lump within her throat. "Yes well, I wouldn't count on it. My presence is quite often unknown, and yet I am still entitled to attend these things, without any consent." It took much concentration for her voice not to quiver and crack before her and the elder woman.

Gerda was a kind and gentle soul, one of the Princesses well trusted Maids; since her Mothers passing she relied on the woman for advice - well needed advice - and was a shoulder to cry onto when needed. The words which Anna spoke to her stayed between them and the four walls, it was a relief.

Gerda wore a cream coloured outfit with a matching white apron and hat. Her eyes were almost misty, somewhere between a blue and grey. She had light bags under her eyes and a couple of wrinkles. Under the hat lay silver hair with hints of brown.

Gerda's sympathetic smile never faltered as she caressed the redheads cheek. "My dear, today is very important; it's an opportunity you'll never witness again, and you may benefit greatly from it, trust me when I say this."

Anna's brows furrowed in confusion. "I do trust you, Gerda, I honestly do, but I don't quite understand; how will I benefit from today when it has nothing to do with me?" Her inquiry was spoken softly, but the irritation and hurt couldn't be hidden from her pale-blue orbs: her eyes somehow spoke louder than any words.
