"Hey Dad, can you drop me off at social services please?" I asked as I was knocking on his study.
"Sure just a minute," he said. Then I heard him talking to someone on the phone.
"Who were you talking to?" I asked him as he exited from his study.
"Uhh no one, just someone from work," he replied. I don't feel like he was telling the truth, but I brushed it off and I didn't ask anymore questions.
"Hey Dad, why did you say 'sorry for what happened' to Ethan the day before yesterday?" I asked him curiously as I sat inside his black Volkswagen.
"Didn't Peyton tell you?" He asked with a surprised look on his face.
"Tell me what?" I asked.
"They're parent died in a car crash last year, I knew them from high school such a tragedy," he said to me as he drove towards the social service centre.
"She never mentioned it, and I was wondering where her parents were," I said while sighing.
"It's okay honey, and we are here," Dad said.
"Thanks Dad," I said and gave him a kiss on the cheek then I walked into the social services centre. All that was revolving around my mind was why Peyton never mentioned it. Maybe it was a painful memory to revisit.
"Hey Amelia!" Someone yelled. I looked up to see Maya running towards me with an excited expression on her face.
"Hi," I replied as I picked her up from the ground. She started to giggle as I twirled her around in the air.
"Come on my brother is here too," she said excitedly when I put her down on the ground.
"You're brother?" I asked.
"Yep!" She said while she pulled me by my hand towards her classroom. When we entered the room I saw Cooper playing his guitar while singing with children surrounding him. After he finished singing, he noticed me and looked very surprised.
"Not bad Lynch, I didn't know you could sing?" I asked him.
"Well Elvis Presley was my great great grandfather after all," he replied.
"No way, Elvis Presley, man you're one lucky man," I said shocked at the new discovery.
"Come on sing with my brother please," Maya begged.
"Brother?" I asked Cooper as we got the instruments ready.
"Not really, we're just really close," Cooper said.
"Oh," I replied.
"Sing Turn Up The Music by Lemonade Mouth," the children yelled excitedly.
"Okay okay," I replied chuckling at their impatient ness.
Take a look around
Who would have thought we'd all be here?
So let's mess around
Cause the future is unclear
We got nothing better to do
We just trying to get through
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Yeah
Let the music groove you
Let the melody move you
Feel the beat and just let go
Get the rhythm into your soul
Let the music take you
Anywhere it wants to
When we stuck and can't get free
No matter what we'll still be singing
Come on come on
Turn up the music
It's all we got
We gonna use it
Come on come on
Turn up the music
Yeah
All we have is now
Let's make the most of this
Come on break it out
So every one can hear it
They don't have to understand
But we'll make them if we can
Do you hear me?
Are you with me?
Yeah
Let the music groove you
Let the melody move you
Feel the beat and just let go
Get the rhythm into your soul
Let the music take you
Anywhere it wants to
When we stuck and can't get free
No matter what we'll still be singing
Come on come on
Turn up the music
It's all we got
We gonna use it
Come on come on
Turn up the music
Yeah
Come on come on
Turn up the music
It's all we got
We gonna use it
Come on come on
Turn up the music
Let the music groove you
Let the melody move you
Feel the beat and just let go
Get the rhythm into your soul
Let the music take you
Anywhere it wants to
When we stuck and can't get free
No matter what we'll still be singing
Come on come on
Turn up the music
It's all we got
We gonna use it
Feel the beat and just let go
Get the rhythm into your soul
Let the music take you
Anywhere it wants to
Come on come on
Turn up the music
YeahThe children had also started singing along with us, they also started to dance as we sang the song.
"Yay," all the children cheered as we finished the song."Well that was fun," Cooper said," wanna grab some coffee at the cafeteria?"
"Why not?" I replied.
_______
"No way, that's horrible," I laughed."That's what happens when a bird poops on you," he replied smiling.
"Some people say that if a bird poops on you, it's a sign of good luck," I said.
"Well did I mention I stepped on dog shit the same day a bird pooped on me, I don't think that's good luck," Cooper replied.
"True," I said while grinning. Then my phone started to ring, I picked it up and excused myself.
"Hello, it's me," I said through the phone.
"Quick Amelia, something happened to Peyton she's really sick!" Skylar cried over the phone.
"What happened where are you?" I asked her anxiously.
"I don't know, I'm at Peyton's place," Skylar cried.
"I'll be there in a second," I replied and ended the call,"I'm so sorry Cooper but something happened, I'll call okay?"
"Yeah sure," he replied. Then I ran out of the orphanage towards a cab that was nearby. Then the cab dropped me off at Peyton's house and I ran like anything towards her house hoping nothing happened to her. I found out that the door was open and I ran towards her room and barged in holding my breathe when I saw Skylar looking over a sick Peyton.
"Hey what happened?" I asked as I walked towards Peyton.
"She just fainted and I didn't know what to do," Skylar replied. As I sat next to Peyton, tears started to roll down my eyes.
"Psych!" Peyton yelled while laughing.
"You should've seen you're face it was hilarious," Skylar laughed.
"Wow, you guys are jerks," I said sighing with relief.
"Sorry, it was my idea but you're face was priceless," Peyton chuckled.
"I should think so," I sighed smiling," don't do that ever again!"
"Didn't think you were that naive Hunt," Ethan said leaning on the doorframe.
"I think you owe me 20 buckaroos," Peyton said. Then Ethan sighed and threw her a 20 dollar note from his pocket.
"I was rooting for you, you've disappointed me Hunt," Ethan said while sighing.
"I'm sorry, I'm not the one pulling pranks and betting on them," I said with a frustrated tone," you know what, I'll see you guys at work." When I walked out of the house someone grabbed my hand that made me turn around to face Ethan.
"I'll drop you off," Ethan said.
"Is this you're idea of a apology?" I asked.
"You could say that," he shrugged.
"I can take care myself Ethan I'll just get a cab," I said.
"Well I don't see any cabs around, do you?" He said looking around. I looked around and realized that there weren't any cabs around. Damn it, why does he have to be right! I thought to myself.
"It's settled then you're coming with me," he said smiling.
"Can you not smile at me with that, that," I said.
"That what?" He said while cocking his head to the side with his stupidly handsome smile.
"That cute ass face of yours, I'm trying so hard to stay mad," I said.
"Cute huh?" He said smirking. Oh no! Oh no! Shit, shit, shit. Did I just say that out loud! I thought to myself. Then he came closer to me.
"Uhh I meant to say something else but cute just popped out, I was gonna say handsome jerk ass face," I corrected quickly. Damn it. What is wrong with me?
"Now I'm a handsome huh?" He said while stepping closer.
"Oh look there's a cab!" I said nervously," I gotta go." I wasn't lying, there was a cab. I quickly ran towards it and jumped inside and thanked the cab driver for saving her life.
That was a close one.
