The girl has a mind darker than coal
A heart of glass shards
Smile like a mirage
And no one ever notices
They say her future's bright
Want her to stay dormant
Expel all sense of imagination
Tell her to keep her nose in those books
And stay inside their box
What a great actress
She plays her part well
But the role she plays is a tiring one
Some times she wonders when the play ends
Or if she should just pull the curtains now
Their probing eyes watch her
Ears hearing yet never listening
Hands struggling to paint the perfect scenery
But their supplies are limited
She watches the others
With envious glares
She sees their carefree smiles
The gleams in their eyes
They say that she can do whatever she sets her mind to
But when she tries, they change their minds
Told her practice makes perfect
So, she practiced, but still will never be almost perfect
At night while she's alone, she lets her sorrows flow
She prays to God that things'll change
Prayer and tears, the only things keeping her sane
Too bad she can't do it all day
After all, the show must go on
