When you sleep, do you dream of me?
I dream of you.
Or at least the smoke and mirrors illusion my mind has created.
But for you it would be different,
Would it not?
Oh, no please do correct me,
If I'm wrong.
I'll take your silence as confirmation,
Of my rushed assumption.
For you have memories,
Do you not?
Of the times I spent in your arms.
And of the tears you've wiped from these eyes,
However few.
Whereas I have illusions created by my need.
Like the illusion of a nice, cool river,
Created by a man dying of thirst in the Sahara.
You are my river.
You are the difference
between the world I see
And the world it could be.
Until the Light of the Sun forever fades,
I will see your illusion in my sleep.
And until the day I never awake,
I shall mourn you in my wake.
