I turn my head to look at Josh right before he can realize I hadn't been paying attention to a word he's been saying. Even though I still wasn't focusing on his words, a few of them caught my attention.

"Do you still like me, Maya?"

My eyes widened at his question and I became flustered, suddenly not being able to speak without stuttering.
"W-why do y-you want t-to know?"
It was obvious that I was shocked at his question, so he just chuckled and smiled before speaking again.

"Well, over the years I've realized how much you meant to me. It took me a while to realize, but I'm here now, and I'm hoping you still like me because I was wondering if you want to go out."

I was still looking at him with wide eyes, shocked at what he had said. Before answering, I see Mr. Friar walking back outside, glaring at Josh the entire time before exiting.

He really is jealous, isn't he?

I look at Josh once more before quickly saying "I'll get back to you on that. Thanks for the coffee. It was nice seeing you again. Bye."

With that I stood up, leaving my coffee on the table, untouched, and I head for the door to see if I can catch up with Mr. Friar. For what reason, I'm not sure. Yet I feel as if I should talk to him.

When I step outside, I look around to see if I can spot Mr. Friar on the busy sidewalk. He was nowhere in sight. I walk down a bit but there's no point in trying to find him, so I just head back to the coffee shop. I see Josh walk out the door, not noticing me standing a few feet away. When he's completely gone in the crowd, I go back inside, walking over to the table that I was sat at only a few moments before. My coffee was luckily still there, so I picked it up and took a sip. I noticed Zay behind the counter so I walked over to him.

"Hey Zay" I said with a slight smile, taking another sip of my drink.

"Hey Maya." He smiled at me and began speaking again. "So who was that dreamboat you were talking to?"

"Did you just call him a dreamboat?" I ask, chuckling at his words.

"Yeah, I mean you saw his face, it's definitely dreamboat material."

I just shook my head while laughing again.

"So anyway, are you gonna answer my question or what?"

I sighed and began to answer his previous question. "That was Josh. He's my best friend's uncle."
Zay's eyes widened as I said that.
"That was Riley's uncle?! He's so young.. and good looking!"
Of course he knows Riley, everyone does. I decide not to ask him how he knows her (because it was probably Mr. Friar who mentioned her to him), and continue with the topic at hand.

"It sounds like you've got a thing for him." I say laughing.
Zay laughs with me and after calming his laughter he says "Nah, I've kind of got this flirting thing going on with this girl who comes in everyday. But anyway, why were you hanging out with him?"

"He invited me out for coffee. What I didn't expect was for him to tell me he likes me and he wants to date."

"Did you say yes?!"

I looked down at the ground and said "No, I told him I would give him an answer later."

"Well do you like him?"

I looked back up at him and took a moment to come up with a final answer.

"No. Not anymore."

Zay sighed in relief and said "Good. Because if you did, I think you would've broken Lucas' heart."

Before I could question him, he told me the girl he was talking about before was here, and he was completely focused on her. Sighing, I walked out of the shop, heading back to my apartment, with one thought on my mind.

Lucas Friar

(a/n) Hii again !! Can you tell I don't know where I'm going with this plot? Anyways, here's what going on- It's really difficult to update on a phone to me, especially if you're stuck with an iphone 4. But once I get my laptop fixed, the chapters should be up faster. This part might sound backwards- school is starting up soon, so expect more chapters to be up, bc I like procrastinating from homework, and I'll probably just write this instead. Anyway, thanks for reading. Bye !!
