Friar's Coffee House [Lucaya]

Chapter Ten

"Well it seems we both had the same idea."

I continued to look at the woman, shocked at her words. As I was about to ask her who she was, she stepped in front of me to talk to Zay.

"Hey Zay. Did you miss me?" She said with a smirk on her face. He looked at her and rolled his eyes.

"Why would I ever in a million years miss you?" He said back to her. You could tell he was angry but was trying not to yell.

"Oh come on Zay, don't try to deny it." the woman said to him. I was still very confused as to who she was. I was about to ask once again, but someone who stood right behind us started speaking.

"Hey guys, what's going on?"

Lucas. I turned and saw a confused look on his face. He replaced it with a smile when he saw me looking at him.
"Hey." he said while looking down at me, his smile never wavering.
"Hey." I say back, also smiling.

"Hey there Lucas! Did you miss me?" the woman suddenly said in a cheery tone. Lucas looked towards the woman and his eyes widened in shock.

"Missy... what are you doing here?"

She chuckled a bit before speaking. "I came to see you, silly."

Lucas stood there, confusion written on his face. "What do you mean you came to see me?"

Missy chuckled a bit before speaking. "You said if we met again you would go out with me. Do you not remember?"

"I don't recall me ever saying that." He says back.

"Well technically you were drunk, so of course you might not remember, but you still promised, and I know you don't break promises." She told him.

"Missy I'm not sure I-"

Missy started "crying". Lucas seemed to think it was real. Stupid, gullible cowboy.

"Okay okay please don't cry! I'll go out with you."

Missy stopped her fake crying and said "Great! I'll be here around seven! See you later, Lukey!" She then turned around to walk out of the building.

"Dude, really? How stupid are you?! You just agreed to go out with Missy 'She broke my heart and didn't even seem to care' Bradford!"

Lucas looked over at me. He looked at me with sadness. I guess he could see how hurt I was.

"Maya I-"

"It's okay, Mr.Friar, I'll just get back to work. I shouldn't have been involved in this situation. It's your personal life and I should have walked away. Sorry for intruding."

I walked away from the counter, and went to my spot, playing the first sad song that came to my mind.

LATER

It was around seven o'clock, and I saw Missy standing outside. A few seconds later, Lucas walked out from behind the counter, and towards the exit. He looked back at me, so I avoided his gaze. I heard the door open and close, indicating he left.

A few minutes later, I decided I wanted to go home. Riley is still at work until late, so at least I won't have to explain this to her tonight. I put my guitar in the case, then put my jacket on. I started walking towards the exit.

"What, no goodbye?"

I turned around and saw Zay pouting behind the counter.

"Sorry, bye Zay.." I said, and turned to leave again.

"Wait, Maya!" I hear him say. I set my guitar down due to my arm beginning to hurt. He turns to another employee, Sarah, and asks her to close up shop. He then throws off his apron and runs over to me.

"C'mon, let's go." He says.

"Wait where are we going?" I ask, very confused.

"First stop, the store. Next stop, your place."

He grabs my wrist lightly and drags me outside. Then, he gets us a cab. We both get inside the car, and Zay gives the driver directions to a store.

Once we arrive, he pays the driver and we exit the car.
"So why are we here Zay?" I ask him. He ignores my question and drags me inside the store. He takes me to the ice cream section.

"Okay, you pick as many flavors as you want, and I'll go get the toppings." He says before running off to another aisle. I just shrug and I pick out some flavors. Chocolate chip cookie dough, cookies and cream, and caramel flavored. After grabbing the containers, I go to find Zay. He's holding two baskets, one has tons of ice cream toppings and the other one is empty. He hands me the empty basket, probably so I can put the ice cream in it.

"Alright, I think that'll due." He says, and we walk over to the counter. I take out my wallet to help him pay for the stuff. He realizes what I'm doing and shakes his head.
"No no no, my treat. I didn't invite you to hang out just so you can end up paying."

I hesitate for a moment because I wanted to help, but then I put my wallet back in my pocket. He pays for the stuff and we leave the store. He gets us a taxi, and I tell the driver where to go. As we were heading to my place, I realized he had a date tonight.

"Zay wait! What about your date with Isadora?"

"Oh she texted me earlier, said something came up. Even if she didn't, I would've canceled. I figured you might not want to be alone after what happened."

"Thank you," I say as a smile forms on my face. "But you don't have to cancel a date because I'm sad. Live your life." I add to the previous sentence.

Soon after, we arrive at my apartment building. Waking inside we step inside the elevator. Bags in our hands, we patiently wait for it to get to my floor. Suddenly, I realize I don't have my guitar.

Zay seemed to read my mind, because he said "I asked Sarah to take care of your guitar before she left, so don't worry."

I sighed in relief. After, the elevator opened and we went to my door. I unlocked it and we stepped inside, putting everything on the counter.

"Alright, you get the bowls and spoons, I'll pick out the movies we'll be watching. GO GO GO!" Zay says excitedly. I laugh at him as he rushes over to where the movies are, picking out quite a few. I then grab the bowls and spoons, excited as well.

After setting down the movies, he walks over to the counter where I am. He then begins to speak.

"Alright, let's get started with the best movie night you'll ever have!"

(a/n) [please answer question at the end] Zay is such a damn sweetheart lol. Hope you enjoyed that Zaya brotp moment (even though after I watched Girl Meets Bear I was like "What is this Lucaya you speak of all I know is Zaya". I still ship lucaya though.
