I grumbled in protest after hearing Rose's alarm clock go off.

Across the room I heard Rose groan sleepily and turn off the incessant ringing, or more than likely, turning it on snooze as she continued to sleep, that'd be so like her. Like both of us really.

Beside me, I heard a soft sleepy noise and almost screamed as something latched around my body.

My eyes sprung open in shock and my mouth opened wide, a loud ear-piercing scream threatened to burst past my lips to warn my family of the attacker when I caught sight of familiar soft brown hair and emerald green eyes that peered up at me in adoration.

Almost immediately I felt the relief bubble inside me as I smiled at the small boy that had crawled into my bed.

"Henry? What are you doing here, squirt?" I asked quietly, brushing back his curly hair from his face.

He looked up at me sleepily with a sheepish expression. "I had a nightmare and I wanted you to protect me." He informed me quietly.

I couldn't help but let the smile curve on my lips at that and squeeze him tightly against me, making him giggle adorably from the sudden pressure that my arms were causing him around his body. "Can we go back to sleep now, Ever?" Henry asked around a yawn.

I grinned at him and nodded, instantly letting my eyes flutter shut and the darkness take me once again as I kept my arms around my little brother to 'protect' him from his nightmares.

I don't even think five minutes had passed when I heard voices looming over me.

"That is the sweetest thing I've ever seen!"

"They're so adorable!"

The vaguely familiar voices gushed.

I groaned, aimlessly waving my hand around as if I could wave away the voices, but instead of meeting peaceful silence, I met chuckles and poking to the face, stomach, neck, shoulders and arms.

"Piss off." I mumbled sleepily into my pillow.

In reply I got a thwack to my head, making me yell out in pain and my eyes shoot open to see my real attacker, meeting the familiar eyes of my step-mother who's beautiful sea green gems were narrowed on my face.

"What the..." I trailed off when Andy's eyes narrowed dangerously on my face as she pointed to the currently fast asleep boy in my arms.

"Less of the language when you're around H, I don't want him picking up those words," she scolded while I caught sight of Rose laughing silently behind her mom.

I rolled my eyes and managed to successfully untangle myself from around Henry's small body and mutter back, "Like dad hasn't sworn in front of him before."

Andy glared at me one last time before swooping Henry into her arms and carrying him to his room. As soon as the bodies were out of sight Rose burst out in hysterics.

Turning around casually, I lifted up my pillow and threw it in Rose's direction, feeling satisfied when it caused her to trip over her own feet and fall on her butt, making her laugh even more.

I rolled my eyes at the strange girl almost peeing her pants laughing on the bedroom floor and walked to her cupboard, flinging it open and borrowing some of her clothes like I usually did when I spent the night.

"Hey, I wanted to wear that skirt!" Rose yelled, suddenly sobering from her laughing fit.

I shrugged and smirked at her as I quickly tugged it on over the pajama shorts I was wearing. "Too late."

Rose gave me a dead serious look and shook her head. "Oh hell no," she said, walking towards me.

I couldn't help but laugh at her. I held up my hands quickly, my smirk widening. "Oh I'm sorry, but what was that rule about eldest calling dibs?" I asked, cupping my ear in her direction.

She growled in irritation, realising the rule we had created when I spent my first ever night here. The rule where once the eldest has put something on or called dibs on something, it's rightfully theirs until further notice. I loved to use it against Rose, mainly because it infuriated her that I was only four measly months older than her.

"One day, one day I will get you back," Rose swore dramatically, narrowing her eyes on my face and pointing a finger at me accusingly, I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head at her.

"In your dreams," I muttered to myself, but I knew she heard me from the withering look she shot me.

I chuckled and rolled my eyes, continuing to get dressed for school.

When both Rose and I were ready, I observed both our outfits in the long mirror attached to Rose's wardrobe.

I was wearing a soft turquoise skater skirt, my legs bare and on my feet white socks and black converse, on my top half I wore a black shirt that was netted, see-through and decorated with intricate patterns on the straps that covered my chest but still showed a small amount of cleavage (it's not like there was much there in the first place) and my hair was array of curls around my shoulders. I looked my plain old average self I'd say.

To my side, Rose looked like complete and utter goddess. Where I was wearing a skater skirt, Rose was wearing high waisted tie-dyed blue shorts, showing off her slightly tanned, long legs that I was absolutely jealous of. On her feet were tattered and worn out plain white converse, but yet, she managed to make them look good. And on her top half was a black Jack Daniels shirt tucked into her shorts and a simple blue wooly cardigan thrown over her shoulders. Her fiery hair was scooped up into a simple pony tail and yet, she made it look so much more stylish than it actually was.

Looking at the two of us in the mirror, we looked so unlikely to be related. From dark hair to fiery hair, from long legs to average legs, from goddess body to standard body, from beautiful features to tolerable features. You just wouldn't picture us as siblings. The only thing that showed we were related were the blue eyes we had inherited from dad, however, Rose had a hint of green lining the outside of her pupil making her inherit half her mom's eye colour.

I sighed to myself, jealous of Rose's impeccable looks. Well at least you have better balance...

I smirked to myself. That I did. Out of all my siblings, there was only me Chanel and possibly Henry that were quick and balanced on our feet, Rose and Jackson...well, they were a clumsy pair.

"Girl's you need to get some breakfast, quick!" Andy shouted from downstairs.

Rose gave herself a once over before shrugging and grabbing her bag from underneath her bed and swinging it over her shoulder.

I didn't even spare myself a glance before skipping downstairs after my sister and smiling when I smelt pancakes.

I plopped down in a chair beside Rose and saw Henry with his eyes half shut as he lazily tried to find his mouth so he could eat his own pancakes. On the other side of the table, reading a newspaper was my father who shot Rose and I a quick smile before returning to the paper.

"Here you go." Andy mumbled setting identical plates in front of Rose and I, while Rose's pancakes were smothered in strawberry's mine was covered in different types of berries.

I glared at her plate, the jealously returning instantaneously. Rose caught my glance and smirked, picking up her fork and piling on a piece of pancake along with a strawberry and teasingly putting it in her mouth, moaning at the taste.

I glared at her this time and growled, Andy instantly taking note of this and rolling her eyes. "If you want to get yourself sick and want to stop breathing, knock yourself out, Ever, literally," Andy put in sarcastically.

"It'd be worth it." I grumbled to myself, making Rose and dad chuckle at me but Andy to only shake her head. Henry was still half asleep to even begin to understand what on earth we were talking about.

I shot one more longing look at Rose's plate before digging into my own breakfast, feeling satisfied and full after eating half of my pancake. Andy always gave me far too much to eat in hope that I'd eat just that little bit more and go against my strict health diet.

"Oh mom, those strawberries were just - they were perfection." Rose moaned in appreciation.

I growled at her and sent her a withering look which made her laugh silently.

Andy looked between us and shook her head, sending Rose a disapproving look. "Rose, stop teasing Ever, you know how she gets." Andy scolded.

Rose just shrugged, so being the kind sister I always have been, slapped her upside the head, making her shoot death glares into my head. "Yeah, Rose, it's mean." I pouted.

Rose rolled her eyes and grumbled profanities at me under her breath, clearly not amused by my behavior.

You see, ever since I was a kid, I'd always loved the taste of strawberries, however, I'm allergic to them, so obviously it was very stupid and idiotic of me to actually attempt to eat them, as good as they tasted.

When I eat strawberries, my throat dries up and swells so I can't breathe properly, it's bad, it got worse as I got older and it's really dangerous for me to eat them, also, my nose gets blocked up and once someone has tended to the more serious matters of me not breathing, I'm ill for the next couple weeks, it was bad to say the least, and when I said 'it'd be worth it', I really didn't mean it, I really didn't like being ill, especially because I had the recital to think of.

This reminded me that I have rehearsals tonight after school. Knowing this, I groaned out loud, wishing I had just one more day off from dancing.

"What's wrong, Boo?" dad asked from behind the newspaper.

"Rehearsals tonight and I'm really not feeling up to it." I mumbled.

Rose looked towards me and grinned. "Can I come and watch?" she asked excitedly.

I shrugged. "I don't see why not. That way I can spend a little more time with you." I agreed, I was glad that Lance didn't mind people visiting and watching us when we rehearsed so that I was sorted.

She grinned happily. "Woo! What class do you have last?" she asked enthusiastically.

I shrugged and snorted. "I don't know, just meet me at the doors, we're gonna have to go back to my house so I can pick up all my ballet stuff." I told her.

She nodded along. "Cool, is your mom coming to pick you up or Paul?"

"Mom will be working as usual." I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "And I think Paul has to go to Jackson's parents' consultation meeting thingy, so I guess I'll have to call Jer."

Rose whooped clearly more excited for this rehearsal than I was which made me laugh at her and shake my head.

"Alright guys, are you ready for school?" dad asked, setting down his newspaper.

Rose and I looked towards him with huge smiles on our faces as we nodded at him. He grinned back and stood up from his chair, kissing Andy goodbye and kissing the top of Henry's head, whose face was practically in his breakfast now. Aw bless the little tiger, he was clearly not a morning person, I know how he feels.

I jumped out of my chair, watching Rose kiss her mom's cheek goodbye and step back to skip after dad. In her place, I jumped in front of my step-mom and pulled her into a bone-crushing hug, suddenly overwhelmed with a feeling of happiness when only moments ago I was not exactly in the best of moods.

Andy chuckled at me and pecked my cheek, ushering me away towards the front door. I smiled and ruffled Henry's hair on the way past. By the door, I grabbed my school bag and swung it over my shoulder before skipping out of the house and climbing into the back of dad's car.

The car ride to school was...interesting to say the least. As soon as I sat down in my seat, dad was blaring chart music through the radio and singing along like a crazy person on crack to Wrecking Ball. To say I was a little frightened of my dad in that moment would have been an understatement. Then as we got closer to school, dad had finally turned the music down and was only bobbing his head to the beat and ranting on about how Vampire Diaries were beginning to become very addictive for him.

When school came in sight, dad randomly interrogated us and popped the big question, "You're both still virgins, right?" he asked protectively yet in such a casual tone.

Rose chocked on thin air and I laughed. "Yeah, dad, we are." I told him, a little embarrassed that he actually asked that question so bluntly.

I saw him take a breath of relief and grin at us proudly. My eyes flashed over to Rose who was smiling back weakly, making me smirk.

We said our goodbyes and hurriedly climbed out of the car, watching as dad sped away, and kind of worrying for about his sanity as he left.

I shook my head after the car and looked towards Rose who looked a little bit worried, making me laugh. "Don't worry, Rose, he'll never find out that you lost it a couple years ago." I chuckled at the sight of her face.

"I just don't want to see the disappointment on his face if he does find out." She mumbled. "I mean, Rupert Jeffrey? What was I thinking?" She asked cringing involuntarily at the mention of her ex-boyfriend.

I laughed at her. "I remember you saying how much you loved him." I grinned teasingly.

She gagged playfully. "Oh dear lord, that is cringy." She shook her head distastefully.

I laughed silently, still amused that she gave her virginity to her homosexual ex. It still made me laugh and I liked to tease her whenever the subject was brought up by telling her that it was her fault that made him go over to the other team.

We began to walk towards school together, both of us giggling for no reason at all and then Rose stopped, her eyes going wide in realization like she had forgotten to tell me something. She grinned at me and danced in front of me, looking like a complete idiot.

I chuckled at her. "What are you doing?" I asked between my giggles.

"I forgot to tell you this but I got the cutest picture ever of you and Henry asleep." She told me.

I raised an eyebrow. "Really, can I see it?" I asked, hiding the eagerness to see how bad I looked in that picture.

She shrugged and pulled out her iPhone from her pocket, clicking the button and showing me the picture that was her wallpaper. I studied it for a moment, kinda touched that Rose was using it as her wallpaper.

I didn't look too bad if I was honest with you. My eyes were shut peacefully and my arms draped loosely around Henry's body, his head tucked underneath my chin protectively, it was actually kinda cute.

I smiled slightly and tucked my hair around my ear, looking up at Rose. "That's actually pretty cute, send it to me?" I asked.

She grinned and nodded, sending the picture to me through iMessages that made my phone ping loudly somewhere in my bag.

Digging through the useless contents of my bag, I finally found my phone and grinned at the image, setting it as my background cover as well. "Who took it?" I asked.

"I did, are you proud of my amazing photography skills?" Rose asked cheekily.

I laughed at her and rolled my eyes. "Yeah, sure Rose," I mumbled shaking my head.

She bumped her hip into mine and grinned teasingly. "Hey, don't forget me after school, okay? Make sure you and Jer wait for me." She said, pointing her finger at me accusingly and narrowing her eyes on my face.

I smiled at her softly. "Don't worry, we won't, I'll make sure Jeremy doesn't drive off, though don't be alarmed when he screams when he sees you, your face is quite horrific today." I tutted and shook my head.

Rose's mouth dropped, but I saw that she was highly amused. "Well..." she sniffled and jutted her chin out.

"I'm kidding!" I laughed. "But he probably will scream because he hasn't seen you for so long." I informed her.

She just laughed and shrugged, giving me a wave before running over to where the popular's were hanging out, some of their gazes travelled over to me curiously, probably wondering why Rose was talking to me, and others glared at me for reasons I am unsure about. Shrugging off the weird looks, I decided to dance my way into school, I always liked to make an entrance...and an exit, it actually amused me to see the looks on people's faces.

Once I was stood in front of my locker, I thrusted it open and sorted out a few loose pictures of Jeremy and I and Chanel and I on the door before I grabbed my phone and realized I needed to call Jeremy and ask him if he actually could give me a lift home and to the studio.

He eventually answered on the fourth ring. "Ever! Oh my God, long time no see!" I heard Jeremy shriek excitedly.

I cringed and took the phone a little away from my ear, but I couldn't help but smile. "Hey, Jer, I've missed you too." I admitted.

"Good!" He beamed happily.

I laughed. "Anyway, I've got a little proposition for you."

"And what is this little proposition you have for me?" he asked curiously.

"Well you see, I need to get home to get all my ballet stuff and I have no way of getting there. I was wondering - "

"No." Jeremy interjected rudely.

I was silent, gaping into thin air. How dare him! He didn't even let me finish my sentence the little -

Then I heard laughing, a deep familiar rumble of laughter. "Oh Ever, I'm only joking! I can just picture your face right now!" he cackled.

"You're so mean." I pouted, even though he couldn't see me.

"I know." He laughed. "If you want me to pick you up from school and take you home and then to the studio, that's fine, I'd love to, you know that. You don't even need to ask me." He grumbled.

I smiled. "Thanks Jer, see you at the end of the day." I said.

"Okay, love you, Ever!" He sung.

I chuckled and rolled my eyes. "I love you too, Jeremy." I told him and hung up, throwing my phone in my bag and then pushing a few unneeded books into my locker.

I felt like someone was beside me before I heard them clear their throat. Instantly, I knew who it was without even having to look. "Can I help you, Damon?" I mumbled, still throwing in unnecessary books into my locker.

"I was - wait, how did you know that was me?" he asked, sounding genuinely confused.

"Psychic," I said.

I saw him raise an eyebrow out of the corner of my eye and I rolled my eyes, shutting my locker and turning to him. "Lucky guess," I said instead.

He just nodded, looking a little shocked and speechless which made me smirk in amusement.

I studied his features closely. He really was beautiful, and I understood why everyone admired him, and drooled over him, I'm pretty sure I was drooling now just taking him in. Why did he have to be my tutor?! This wasn't going to be distracting at all...

Why did he have to be so perfect at everything? But most of all, why did he have to kiss me?!

That just makes everything more awkward, well, if we make it awkward, but I was going to try not to, I'm just going to pretend it never happened and that it was a mistake, which it probably was, he probably already forgot about it, it wouldn't surprise me.

"Do you know what hours we are doing the tutoring thing?" he asked, looking bored.

I raised an eyebrow and went through my bag, pulling out the little piece of paper Boggs had given to me with his messy scribbled writing scrawled across the paper telling me which hours I was being taken out of to do my tutoring sessions with Damon.

"Here," I said, handing the paper to him. "Take it, then you can just tell me when we do the tutoring thing." I shrugged.

Damon took it hesitantly and his eyes roamed across the paper, he nodded slightly before stuffing it in his pocket. "I saw you with Rose this morning." He commented bluntly.

I tried to hide back the smirk and gave him a confused look. "Yeah? Weird, I don't actually know a Rose." I said.

He raised an eyebrow. "Really, you're gonna try to pretend that you were seen getting out of the same car as her?" he asked, looking me over like I was stupid and was far less superior to him which actually sort of pissed me off.

Realization crossed my face. "Oh that Rose! Yeah, her dad works with my dad and my dad was working this morning so we carpooled!" I said with a grin, hoping he bought it. "It's not like she talks to me." I shrugged.

To my surprise, Damon bought it, he clearly hadn't seen how we were laughing and messing around coming towards school, idiot.

"Okay, well, meet me in the library first hour for tutoring." Damon finally said and shrugged.

My eyes widened and I gave him a sarcastic smile. "Can't wait!" I chirped sarcastically and rolled my eyes when he gave me a blunt look. Well someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Damon walked away without so much as a goodbye and I grumbled to myself, knowing that these tutoring sessions were going to be absolute torture on my behalf.
