Explosion

Garnet and Pearl hopped from planet to planet searching and taking in the foreign scenery. It didn't look like the galaxy they remembered at all. Everything was uncomfortably different.
"Garnet," said Pearl softly. Garnet leaped onto the next planet and nodded her acknowledgement.
"Do you-?"
"No, I know that creature has something to do with Amethyst," Garnet interrupted, already knowing Pearl's question. She stopped, put her hands on her hips, and looked off into the distance. Pearl cast her gaze downwards.
"Hmm."
"What?"
"I see something."
"What is it?"
"Not sure."
Pearl looked towards where Garnet's line of sight was. She squinted and leaned forward.
"What on Earth?"
"I think you mean, what in this galaxy."
Garnet, "Master of Comedy", felt the need to lighten the mood although a possible danger was heading their way. It was necessary for both of them.
"Garnet, what is that?"
"Can't tell."
Pearl instinctively summoned her spear. Garnet summoned her gauntlets. To Pearl's surprise, she heard Garnet mutter something a long the lines of "I've had enough for one day" under her breath, and she couldn't help but agree. They'd have some story to tell Steven once they found Amethyst and returned home.
A booming screech that would definitely rival the whaling stone, brought the gems to their knees. They groaned on their spots on the ground and forcefully looked where the awful noise was coming from. Then they caught each others glance. With a flash of  blinding light, and a shaking of the planet they were on, there was an explosion. Garnet and Pearl felt themselves fly mindlessly into the abyss of space, not aware that they were far from one another's reach.
