"Lie still Amethyst. Don't move. STAY there!" Pearl warned. Amethyst was wounded, and she had no intention of getting up.
"Got ya, P."
Pearl pulled the spear from her glowing gem and leaped high in the air. Garnet was already power running around the small planet to pick up momentum for a fatal blow. She was fed up, and wanted to go home to Steven. The creature would pay for the extended visit.
"Ready Pearl?"
"Ready!"

BOOM! POOF!

Pearl sighed, tired, but satisfied as she waiting for the dust to settle. The monster was done with. All they had to do was bubble it.
Pearl heard a sharp in take of breath and realized it was Garnet. It had to be bad if their fearless leader was surprised. Pearl stumbled on wobbly knees to where Garnet stood. The debris in the air was now coming to an end as she finally noticed what had caught the other's attention. Pearl gasped loudly, clearly shocked. Her hand flew to her mouth and she tore her eyes to Garnet's shielded ones and caught a reflected glimmer.
The gems studied the sight before them, perplexed and at a loss. In vain, Pearl painfully bent down and dug through the sand before her, where Amethyst's absence occupied the spot. She dug, thinking if she dug enough, Amethyst would just appear. They'd pull her out and call it a day.
Garnet watched her fellow gem search in desperation. She knew Pearl refused to accept the simple fact. The monster was not there. And neither was Amethyst.
"Pearl. Get up. She's gone." It pained the taller gem to utter the last two words. And she knew it pained Pearl to hear them.
"But...... Her gem would've been here." Pearl's voiced cracked at her realization.
"If ... If she was indeed poofed, then her gem would be here! Where's her gem?!"
Garnet knew this scenario all too well. Pearl was going to freak out like she always did in these situations, and her dramatic actions were going to overcome her rational thought.
"Pearl, calm down," Garnet said absentmindedly. "We need to think this out. We need to look."
Words just stumbled from the fusion's lips, as her mind wondered to Steven's safety and the whereabouts of their beloved purple gem.
"We don't know where she is, Garnet!" Pearl sniffed. Tears rolled down her pale cheeks and she slowly stood up. Garnet adjusted her visors and searched through endless possibilities of what could happen. Her mind felt jumbled and as if a mental burden had been heavily dropped on her. Then she felt a force upon her suddenly and she was engulfed in warmth and tears. Pearl had her arms wrapped around the taller gem and her face buried in her abdomen. She sobbed uncontrollably.
"It's okay, Pearl," Garnet soothed with a newfound reassurance. "We'll find her."
