Obsession. Jealousy. Rage. The Dark Side of Love

Something tugged on my arm and I turned to face June, Summer, and Sunday. "Is it true that you were sent to the office with John and Jonah?" Sunday asked, wide-eyed, as June took my arm and they began to lead me towards gym. I groaned and nodded, "Yeah, how did you guys find out?"

"It's all over the school. Apparently Jonah and Brayden kept flirting with you, and John got mad and said that they couldn't call you Nana and that only he is allowed to call you that," Sunday said quickly, her eyes wide. I nodded and said, "Wow, actually, yeah, that's about right."

"You better watch out," Summer advised. "All of John's girls are going to be on you." My brow creased as I asked, "What girls?"

"All the girls that John has slept with, made out with, or just the ones who obsess over him. Trust me, there are quite a big number in each category."

I wrinkled my nose, "Gross." June nodded as they brought me into the girls locker room. I pulled on the required uniform which were short black shorts, and a plain white v-neck t-shirt with our choice of bra. I pulled on a light blue bra, my shoes, and then slid my hair back in a pony-tail. I finished by slipping my IPhone and headphones into my bra.

I turned to face June, Sunday, and Summer who were in similar outfits. "I hate gym," Sunday whined, pulling at her shorts. "Sunday isn't athletic, and she's very clumsy," Summer quickly informed me, and I nodded. "It's okay Sunday; I'm not very athletic either. I don't play any sports. I work out and stuff, but I'm not in any sports through the schools or anything."

"I've gotten kicked out of three gyms because they didn't want to be held accountable for the number of times I've injured myself there," Sunday wailed. "I can run, but that's about it."

Shaking my head in amazement, I took her arm and lead her out of the locker room. We made our way over into the gym where everyone else was. Mr. Burns was a big, burly guy who looked like a football player. He was older with white hair and a mustache, but still had a lot of muscle.

A few last people trickled into the gym before he barked, "Okay everyone. Today we're playing kickball. I'll seperate you into two teams."

In the end I was put on a team with Sunday, Summer, John's perverted friend Brayden, and his quiet friend Reese.

The line of people went through pretty quick, and soon enough it was Summer's turn. She went up, kicked, and had a decent run. Then it was Suday's turn. All of the bases were loaded, and she stared nervously at the pitcher holding the ball.

"You can do it Sunday," I cheered loudly, and a few of my other teammates joined in.

Sunday gulped, and the the pitcher rolled the ball forward. I watched in slow motion as Sunday took a step, another one, swung her foot, and...she missed.

A few guys snorted, and I caught John's eye across the room. He was wearing black sneakers, black basketball shorts, and a bright orange T-shirt with some brand on it. He sent me a smirk, and I retaliated with a scowl and a discreet finger, making sure the teacher didn't see. I did not need another detention.

"Try again Sunday," Mr. Burns rumbled, his tone laced with exasperation. Her face turned red, but she nodded.

This time she didn't bother trying to kick the ball hard. She gave the ball a light bunt and dashed away. For someone small and nonathletic, she was pretty quick.
