I Kissed Her Alive And She Looked As Beautiful As If She Had Been Dead!

Savannah's P.O.V.

Just as fifth period's bell rang, John and I plopped into our seats in fifth period Calculus. Instantly, all of John's friends began to question us.

"So, where have you two been for the last hour or so?" Brayden asked wiggling his eyebrows suggestively at us. "Yeah, we didn't see either of you all lunch," Reese piped in. After rolling my eyes at Brayden I said simply, "We were setting stuff on fire."

The boys went silent for a second, and then started laughing. "Okay, yeah, sure," Jonah laughed sitting back in his desk. "What's that supposed to mean?" I replied snarkily, punching him in the shoulder. He smirked at me as he leaned forward again so he was close to my face. "Darling, you aren't exactly what we'd call culo mal." Not recognizing the language, I raised an eyebrow at him as I heard John laughing next to me. "What?" I snapped turning to look at him. "Culo malo means bad ass in Spanish," John said with a smirk. Raising an eyebrow I quipped, "Yeah, and you actually paid attention in Spanish when?" John grinned and said, "I didn't. I looked up swear words the entire time." Rolling my eyes, I turned to face the front again.

"Aw, Savvy, don't be mad," Brayden teased playfully, poking my knee. Slightly surprised, I turned to face him and asked, "Savvy?"

"Well, John wasn't okay with Nana, but Savannah is too long."

I nodded, though it was still odd. I hadn't been called Savvy since long before I left for England. It felt nice. I turned to look at John, who was smirking widely. "Oh, you're so full of yourself," I said, grinning the slightest. He just looked over at me with the slightest of smiles, and shrugged.

Two periods later I was changing into my gym uniform as June and Summer chatted along happily. Sunday refused to talk until Maura and her friends left. I watched out of the corner of my eye as she hid behind her light blonde hair and laced up her sneakers. With a pang of sadness rushing through my heart, I looped my arm through hers. She looked up in surprise and I smiled gently at her as I said, "Come on, let's go." She smiled weakly at me and we walked out of the locker room.

When we got into the gym, Mr. Burns announced that we would be playing dodge ball. Next to me I could literally feel Sunday deflating. I glanced over at her and she sighed out, "I hate dodge ball." And I could understand why. No matter what, Maura was bound to be cruel to her. "Hey, it'll be fine," I said in an attempt to cheer her up, but she just nodded in a downcast manner.

We were quickly divided into teams and I soon found myself with June, John, and two of Maura's cronies. As we separated to our different sides I noticed Sunday heading as far away as she could from Maura with Summer, twisting her shaking, white fingers into her shorts. She bit her lip nervously and wouldn't dare to even glance at Maura, who already had an evil smirk etched across her face.

"Get her out right away," a voice said softly in my ear, and I looked over at June. "Who? Maura?" I asked questioningly. June shook her head and said, "No, Sunday." Confused, I turned to look back at Sunday. "What do you mean? Why would I-"

But June cut me off, "That way Maura can't use her as a shield or get one of her friend's to sweet talk some guy into drilling Sunday in the face. Trust me, it's the kindest way to deliver the unavoidable."

Disgusted with Maura and her childish antics I took my place against the wall.

The game began and for several rounds I managed to get Sunday out before any harm could come to her from Maura, but it was during the last round that I was about to toss a ball lightly to get her out when a ball hit her hard in the throat making her choke, and begin to cough violently. I blinked as she continued to cough, not fully understanding what had happened. I hadn't tossed my ball, and I certainly wouldn't throw it that hard. Then I turned and looked to see one of Maura's friends and a tall jock laughing as they watched her. I searched back across the court and found Maura's perfect, laughing face.
