Javen P.O.V
I felt bad walking away from him, but what I said was true, Ezra was covered in misery and sadness, and it compelled me towards him. I was like a match to his sad candle, I just wanted to light it, bring him happiness, warmth and joy. It was weird but I knew as soon as I walked into that classroom and recognised him, I knew I was supposed to help him.
He was in self-destruct mode and I was going to get him out of it, and first I had to get him to stop the smoking and then the drugs. I could smell it in his blood; the drugs dulled the smell, made the sweet sensation of blood almost smell like nail varnish. I wanted to know what he really smelt like; I had to get him to quit, to find another hobby.
It would be good for him and a challenge for me, and I loved a good challenge. And this was one I definitely wasn’t going to fail. I went to find Nate; I knew I had to tell him that Ezra remembered me. I wondered if he remembered me carrying him in my arms, moving at a pace too quick to be human. He was one step closer to knowing what we were and I knew Nate wasn’t going to like that.
I texted Nate to meet me by my car, a couple seconds later he appeared, it didn’t startle me, I saw and heard him coming at a pitch that was too quiet for humans to hear. He leant against my car his arms folded across his chest.
“This better be good Javen, I was eating,” he said moodily.
“Ezra remembers that it was me who pulled him out the fire” I whispered, making sure no one could hear.
“So?”
“Nate! Say if he remembers me moving quicker than a human should, or being stronger than a human should. He would know were not what we’re pretending to be”
“So then kill him”
“What?!”
“Jay this isn’t my problem, and I’m kinda of bored already, it’s not a big deal don’t blow it out of proportion otherwise he will get suspicious and start digging, just go back to him and hang out like nothing happened and HE will think he’d gone crazy and made the whole thing up”
“I can’t do that”
Nate hissed at me and his eyes darkened, a sign that he was getting frustrated with me “Javen if you cause trouble for us I will kill you. And do think I wont, I did it once before remember?”
I looked down angry and embarrassed Nate was such an arsehole. I flipped him off and walked away, and now I was pissed off. I didn’t have any destination but somehow I ended up walking straight into Ezra and some pretty blond girl he had his arms around. I stopped walking my eyes scrutinising there embrace.
“So your Javen?” the small girl piped up. Ezra tried to hold her back but she pushed his arms away and walked up to me. She was so tiny, she reminded me of Tinkerbelle.
“Javen Laurence it’s nice to meet you. What’s your name?” I said seductively, I watched how her expression softened so quickly; I could tell she really wasn’t that angry at me, it was just for show, for Ezra. Maybe she had a soft spot for him, I would have to let him know later.
“Err… I’m Skylar Matthews but just call me Sky. My name is overrated enough as it is, I don’t need it sounding anymore common”
“I like your name it’s pretty, but they should have named you Crystal, yours are the nicest grey eyes I have seen in a long while”
“Are you flirting with me?” she asked raising her eyebrows and almost pouting her lips.
“No merely observing, you’d definitely know if I was flirting with you,” I said chuckling. My eyes flickered over to Ezra; he’d been quiet the whole exchange, but I could see a blush on his face.
