I was so glad that Ezra had invited me around tonight, mainly because it meant I wouldn’t have to go home and face Lisa. She’d been here 2 frigging days and I wanted to kill her already. She was such a sloppy feeder my brothers and me had been cleaning up after her, she had a mad hunger and she’d killed about 3 people since she’d been here.

Well 3 that I knew about, she could have killed and disposed of others without me. I get that she was bored, she’d come down here for me to help her with a problem but I’d been busy. I was worried about what will happen when she meets Ezra, because I knew it was going to happen, Lisa was dying to meet him ever since Nate mentioned I was friends with a human.

Sometimes I honestly think that Nate does that sort of stuff just to make my life a little harder, or is that conceited of me to think that Nate’s plans all evolve around Ezra and me? Oh well whatever else I had going on didn’t really matter; I was only concerned about tonight, just Ezra and me, because his parents weren’t home.

I climbed out of my shower wrapping a towel around my body, I looked at my face in the mirror, I looked alive and normal, well I should have seeing as I’d fed not even an hour ago. I wanted to be full so that Ezra wouldn’t tempt me. I wasn’t ready to have the ‘OMG what the hell are you’ talk with him. I mean if I ever had to have it with him. I got dressed and headed downstairs.

“Wait Javen, before you go hold up!” Lisa yelled.

I rolled my eyes and kept walking I’d been avoiding her as much as possible, I rounded the corner and saw Nate and Connor waiting for me in the kitchen, they were both drinking from blood bags and laughing. I stopped and looked between them, when did they get on so well, Nate was always so rebellious towards Connor.

“Javen” Lisa whined.

“What!” I snapped spinning around “You’re not a child for goodness sake why are you pestering me”

Her face fell into a pout and I tried to fight it, she used to use it on me all the time when we were together. Seeing her now when I had my new life going on was just weird, I felt out of context around her. She wasn’t someone I’d expect to still be talking too after all this time. I felt my body automatically tense waiting for her request.

“I came down here for you to help me, and you haven’t even tried” she took a step forward and whispered “What am I supposed to do about her, it was an accident, they’ll kill her if they find out. I can’t let that happen…. I love her”

I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose letting out a deep sigh. I did promise to help Lisa with her problem but I couldn’t give up my night with Ezra. I mean Lisa was a vampire she wasn’t going anywhere I could help her tomorrow right? I looked up at Nate and sent him a pleading look.

He rolled his eyes before speaking “Hey Lisa, I’ll help you tonight because Javen’s going on a date. He’ll pick up or give us new ideas tomorrow right?”

“Yeah I will, I promise,” I said grinning at Nate.

“You’re dating again?” she whispered her eyes flickering between mine.

“Lisa it’s been 2years since we were together of course I’d been dating again… you are?”

“Yeah I am, but it still surprised me to hear you’ve moved on too… I guess we’re fully over this time” I knew what she meant, we’d always somehow managed to sleep with each other in the 1st year after we split, but I moved across the other side of the country to get away from her, but yet here she was a year later, in my house “I gave a good 10years of my life to you Javen… of course it hurts to know we’re done for real”
