Chapter 5 - Mindful

I woke up with a loud yawn.

I decided to explore the bedroom. Being in the room without any knowledge of who it belonged to or who even settled here previously taunted me. However, it was a comfortable place for the time being. The floor consisted of dark pale glossed wood. Although, the majority of the lower surface of the room was covered with a light brown carpet which matched the long curtains that draped by the right side of the room. It was nice. The walls were covered with dim beige wallpaper.  It was elementary to spot the colour scheme, however the colour pattern was vaguely ruined by the number of stray blue objects in the room such as the unarranged navy table, sapphire coloured vase and a dark indigo flat screen tv. Unusual paintings hide large sections of the four enclosed walls of the suite. Each varying in sizes and content, most dull and lacked in colour. They were mostly the type of artwork a sophisticated person would buy and waste their money on.

The room was satisfyingly furnished. A reasonably oversized vanity placed itself barely a meter away from the door, a lavish couch stood beside the window and the bed, which to no surprise matched the colour scheme placed against the wall facing the door.  A walk in closet revealed itself as I moved to the door to the left. I was amased to see that a handful of my clothes were neatly folded in shelves or hung on hangers. I was relieved. I was worried about clothes.

My tour was put to a hold when my stomach started to ache with hunger pains. I made my way to the bathroom, opting to get myself ready for the day. The plan for the day was very simple. It couldn't go wrong.  The goal was to head to the kitchen and accumulate enough food to last the 24 hours. I would stay out of site in my room until I constructed a convenient method of escape.

After brushing my teeth, showering and picking out a suitable outfit, I headed for the door. My appearance had improved overnight and my body was full of energy. I could only presume that I was reaping the benefits of sleeping the night in my mates house.

The darkened circles beneath my eyes seems to have disappeared. Once again, my forest green eyes were the most dominant feature I had. I was relieved. My soft caramel hair flowed over my shoulder and it contrasted well with my medium auburn highlights. The feeling of liveness felt good.

Taking one step out of my room, I was spooked to see the alpha lying on the floor asleep against the wall beside my assigned room. This was strange. Had he spent the whole night there? I made the mental note to lock the room at any point I was alone. I was stuck between the options of quickly running past him or going back into the room and locking myself in.

The alpha helped me make my decision when his two eyes rapidly opened. I looked down the hall and nobody was there. I was alone with him. He could hurt me now. I started to trail several steps backwards trying to get back into my room. Nothing too fast that would result in angering the beast. My trembling steps caused me to trip on my own two feet totally in me bumping my arm on the wall.  Ouch! That would leave a bruise no doubt.

My mate stood up with speed in an effort to help me but I managed to help myself up before he laid a finger on me. I closed my eyes and bent my head low. I didn't want to see what was going to happen.

"Good morning" he whispered while clearing his throat. " Sorry, I was... I didn't want." He stopped his rambling and I looked up. He was scratching his head trying to put his words together.

I was about to use the opportunity to run back into the room when Sapphire made a jump into my line of view.

"Yahhh. You're awake. I hope I'm not interrupting anything" she exclaimed while winking at me and the alpha with a devious smile.
