One may believe that I should offer an apology for the rebellious outcry in my description of this amateur piece of literature. However, I shall not. I am forever implanted into the fertile soil of Middle-Earth, particularly the Shire, and never again shall my mind change or be changed regarding this particular conundrum.
Nevertheless, I do feel obliged to provide a clarifying beginning to my presented evidence. Something that must be understood is this. I have not set out to pile gross, unfounded insults onto the multimillionaire head of J. K. Rowling, certainly not (although I must confess that I have many dislikes in writing style, structure, history, etc.). My mission is to throw light onto the craftily concealed but blatant copying that took place during the composition of Harry Potter. I will be stating, with absolute confidence, that it is inferior to its origin. Not only the main plot, but the beautiful details; almost none were the work of a ‘she’ contemporarily…but a ‘he’ in the middle of the last century. I am talking of the little known but ingenious novel and trilogy - "The Lord of the Rings”.
Undoubtedly, a copy of this book(s), “The Silmarillion” and various others of J. R. R. Tolkien’s creations lay open on her lap as Rowling jotted down ‘ideas’ on the train to King’s Cross Station, where she claimed to have come up with her business plan. I call it thus because that is what it was. A cunning disguise of a stroke of genius, presented as her own but actually an undeserved honour.
The profits of revolutionising writing are fans, praise and happiness. This is an achievement which features in the history of the writing, but this was achieved not by her. These were the succulent fruits lovingly grown by Tolkien. What Rowling got, were the dry but plentiful crops of money cultivated by mass distribution, in other words, advertising and simplification. Harry Potter is a child’s entertainment, albeit gripping, but still easy to understand and not as seemingly grim and disturbing, while “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Silmarillion” are stories which have been deciphered for decades by leading philosophers, language specialists and authors, have been the inspirations for countless great modern writers.
My general point is: the great work that is ‘amazing’ is his. Harry Potter is hers. As I once heard a persona of one mind with myself say: “Harry Potter has been written for those fools who are too feeble-minded to enjoy the real brilliance of “The Lord of the Rings”. It is just a worthless imitation.” Sharing this ideal, I now invite you, friends, to sit back, relax and be shocked by the proof which will unfurl before your eyes, of the horrible treachery that is the existence of ‘the wizard world’.
