Remembering you - a Divergent fanfic

"Yes Tobias, I'll be there in a couple minutes, I'm passing the park right now" Tris said with a hint of annoyance in her voice

I sighed, since we started dating about a year ago both of our grades started dropping, so our parents said we have to meet at the library every day and study or else they will break our relationship off.

"Okay, I just wanted to make sur-" I'm cut off by a horrifying scream, a scream from the other side of the phone, Tris's scream followed by a horrible sound, almost the sound of a car rolling and bones crushing and more screaming

I panic

No, Tris is smarter than that, she knows never to get distracted when she's driving. But then again, that was her scream that came from the phone.

I run out of the library, leaving my study books and papers, on the table. Once I get outside the building I run for my car, hop inside and go, not bothering to put on my seat belt.

She said she was passing Greylen park, so that's where I'm going

I pass cars, speeding way over the limit, but I honestly couldn't care less

When I see her car I stop and rush out, there lays her card flipped over, her broken body right next to it, and I reach for her.

Her white T-shirt is stained with blood, her blond hair has tiny bits of glass and
rock, her leg is bent in an odd position, and there is a pool of blood on the left side of her face where her head lays.

Aperently someone already called the ambulance because I can hear sirens wailing coming nearer and nearer

I kneel next to her and lift her unconscious body into my arms. I look around and see a big truck toppled over, I get it now.

The car must have been speeding and hit her car, and I can make out a man in the drivers seat of the truck, dark blond hair and a big muscular body, Peter, her cousin. I guess the killing whoever did this option is out.

The ambulance park and so do the police and come rushing out, taking out a stretcher, rushing to her aid. They take her out of my arms and put her on the stretcher "who may you be?" asks a women in a blue hospital uniform "I'm her boyfriend, Tobias Eaton" I answer, and she nods. "My name is Tori" she says.

Tori takes my arm rather forcefully and leads me to the ambulance van where Tris already lies there motionless.

I sit there watching her, she's still unconscious and the doctors found out she has a broken leg and her left side of her head is damaged.

Suddenly Caleb breaks through the door and states at his sister with wide eyes, then his eyes shift to me "you" he states "what did you do?!"

"I called her because she was late for studying, then I heard a scream on the other side of the line, I rushed there to find out what was happening and It turns out she was in a car crash"

His face flares with anger "this is your fault! if you hadn't called her she wouldn't have been distracted and she wouldn't have gotten into a crash! this is your fault! your fault that my sister might die!" He screams

Mr. Prior comes in taking Caleb's shoulder "calm down Caleb, it's not his fault" he says

But it is, it is my fault that she might die, it's all because of me.

Tori comes in asking us to leave, and for once I let go of Tris's hand.

2o minutes later she say one of us can come in one at a time. I go in first and she lays there staring at the ceiling. I rush up to her and hear Tori say "Sir, I don't think it's a good idea to-" but I'm already by my girlfriends side.

and I kiss her, but she dosent kiss back so I pull away. her face is mixed with confusion and fear.

Fear? no she cant, we went over this, she can't be afraid of me, she can't, but what she says next hurts me more than anything else can

"I-I'm sorry" she stutters "but I don't know who you are"
