Remembering you - a Divergent fanfic

chapter 6

Tobias's pov

Capture the flag was fun, it seemed like Tris had lots of fun playing capture the flag, and that made me happy. seeing her happy.

For once, it seemed like she was her old self again, today when I visited her she greeted and talked to me normally as if nothing had happened to her. I still see Caleb bugging her though, he asks her if she remembers him constantly, and for someone who just got in to a really good college, that was really stupid. 

Things are getting better, I guess. Although, I want her to remember me -kiss me, tell me this thing was all a joke and she really did remember and love me- I'm happy that she's comfortable and happy around me. She's even talking to Christina and Marlene now, she texts them almost every night, and they take her shopping. Last month after when we played that game, we went to the nearest McDonalds and got some food, she was laughing and smiling at some joke Uriah made, and she looked so beautiful. That wasn't something I called anybody, I didn't even admit my mother or sister was pretty, the only person in my eyes who had true beauty was her. Christina and Marlene had tons of makeup, but not as much as the girls at school, Lauren was irritating, she may be good looking to other guys eyes, but not to mine, I was never going to say my sisters pretty, even when she gets married. Lynn would always be wearing shades or someting, same with Shauna and Cara. But Tris, she didn't need makeup to make her look good, not even a little. 

 "So, hows homework? too hard?" I ask her from across the library table, she went back to school with us, but she actually had a good time at school.

Tris rolls her eys. "It's fine, Tobias. Actually, it's quite easy"

I chuckle,  "You never used to say that," 

For a second, her eyebrows furrow and she looks almost hurt. But that was just for a second, her face returned to her usual smile, and she laughed. Before I can ask whats wrong, she speaks.

"I bet I bugged you all the time about how hard it was. I actually think i'm smarter now, even though, you know..." she shakes her head "yeah, that dosen't make sense." 

I laugh and go back to writing my essay, trying to forget the hurt on her face earlier.

As hard as I try I can't get that face out of my mind. She was frowning, and she looked confused, then she looked pained, and then she went back to normal. 

I mean, did I say something? is she remembering? the doctor said it was unlikely for her to get her memories back, and if she did it would take a year or two, at the least. It's only been about a week so that option was out. 

I wanted to ask her all day about it, but just couldn't bring myself to do so. When I dropped her off at Christinas, I went straight for home. I planned on heading to bed once I got there, but I guess the other side of my brain had other ideas. Instead, I eneded up going through old pictures of Tris and I, ones where we went on trips together, dates like the one at the carnival when we were Juniors, us with friends, and I didn't even notice my eyes were watery until I saw a drop of water on one of the photos I was looking at. I quickly wiped my eyes, and put the pictures away in my closet where they were. I squeezed my eyes shut, and lay down, trying to fall asleep with no dream, because when I do have dreams, they're nightmares, ones that usually end with Tris dying.

A/N PLEASE READ. was going to add more but eh. i'm thinking about writing a new fourtris fanfic (modern day au, of course) and it's where four & tris are in high school, and they're guess what. FANS. so it's like where he's a fanboy and she's a fangirl, and they become really good friends, and it's fluff and stuff, but idk where to go with it. another idea I had, is where four & tris are actors and they're gonna be in the same movie, and they get to really know eachother and become good friends and then more, but yeah, please tell me which one you guys would like me to write and i might just write it:) but the thing is, i'm afraid that i won't finish it.
