"He left" said the King. He turned to the Hero, "a trap?"
The Hero looked around their environment. "Maybe. Or a test. Either way, im tired of waiting and i want to see what the world's become." The King nodded and they made their way down a flight of stairs to the left of the castle wall. On the ground they saw what appeared to be people deep in prayer. Soon they heard loud barking and 2 skeletal hounds ran at them, attempting to sink their teeth into their flesh. The Hero kicked one away, while the King swung his blade across the other. The Hound barely reacted to the the blade slicing its bone, and quickly bit into the Kings arm, its teeth sinking into the padding, penetrating it and digging into his flesh. He screamed out in pain, before spinning and slamming it into a wall. The dogs yelp alerted the praying bodies, and a mob of hollowed humans began attempting to hack away at them.

The king and Hero retreated into a room, where they found a ladder that led to what appeared to be a jail cell. As they wandered through, they found themselves faced with a hollow wielding a lance, and another wielding a crossbow. An arrow flew past the Hero's face, barely missing, as the king attempted to dodge the lengthy reaches of the lance user. Strike after strike kept the king at bay, unable to reach him with his sword. He turned to see the Hero, with several crossbow bolts imbedded in his chest, plunging his sword into the crossbow wielder. The Hero gave a sign, and the King nodded. He continued to act as if he was going to move closer to the Lancer, keeping his attention off of the Hero who was steadily creeping around behind him. With a smirk, the King lunged forward, causing the Lancer to prepare a strike. The Hero seized that moment to run his sword through the lancers throat, before swinging it across, removing its head from its body.
As its corpse hit the floor, they looked at the path ahead, as well as the staircase on the left.

"I go up, you go down?" Asked the Hero. The King nodded and they diverged with the Hero sprinting up the stairs, and the King racing on forward, however it wasnt more than a second before they heard a deafening roar in the distance. The King swiftly made it to the other side, spinning around to decapitate the hollowed soldiers who had appeared to check on their comrades. He looked up to see a shadow pass over him, the light from the sun obstructing his view. The Hero sprinted to the top of the stairs, where he was greeted by a dozen hollows all armed with bows and arrows, aimed at him from every direction. A shadow passed overhead, and the Hero quickly began running towards a door on the other side. Arrows whizzed past his body, barely deflecting off of the armor, as the roars got louder and the shadows got closer. Soon, the shadow enveloped everything in the area, and the king dove towards the door as a loud crash was heard over him. Perched on the wall right above him, was a large, monstrous creature. He looked up to see talons larger than any monster he'd ever fought. What he could only guess were wings flapped for a moment as the creature roared. Suddenly fire filled the land, as the Hollowed archers erupted into flames, and the ground and air alike were scorched. The souls drifted from the dead bodies into the Hero, and as he turned and fumbled to open the door, a snort behind him caused him to turn back around. He looked into the large yellow eyes of a creature that seemed able to pierce his very core. He couldnt say it out loud, but the thought crossed his mind instantly.
"Dragon."
The Hero turned back around and with all his strength pushed the door open, and raced inside as the dragon stomped its feet in frustration. The Hero raced past a treasure chest, unconcerned with what may lie inside, as he jumped down a flight of stairs and opened a door, where he found the King pulling his sword out of a knight.
"Did you hear the-" asked the King, but the look on his face answered his question. "You saw it, didnt you?" He asked. The Hero nodded. The King pointed at a doorway behind them. "This way." He said. They sprinted into the room, where small beings dressed in black dropped from the shadows, with daggers and began swinging wildly at them. The King kicked one down a flight of stairs, while the Hero quickly danced back, before swinging his sword and cutting the creature across its face. They continued down the stairs and found a room full of deformed creatures lurking. The King pointed at a window, and the 2 crawled out, dispatching the handful of archers they came across. As they hopped from roof top to rooftop, making their way to the ground, the stench of blood quickly filled their nostrils. When they reached the street, the Hero shook his head in shame, as the King's face contorted in disgust. The street was littered with mutilated bodies of men, women and children. Pets in pieces, and blood dripping into the fountain in the center. It was horrifying.  The sound of metal scrapping the floor pulled them away from the scene, as a towering figure, clad in metal armor came around a corner, carrying what looked to be a giant halberd. It raised his head and looked at the two, before running at them, gripping his weapon with two hands. He swung at the two, but they both managed to duck. The Hero spun around, pulling out his sword and attempting to cut the large foe across his legs, but the armor protected him. The large enemy brought his weapon down on the Hero, who was pulled out of the way by the King at the last moment.

"He's big" said the Hero, looking at his own sword, and seeing the crack that had begun to appear. "Our blades cant penetrate him."

"It doesnt have to." Said the King. He pointed at the pieces of cloth in between the sheets of metal. "His joints are exposed for movement. He's slow. I'll bait his attention, you target those." Said the King. The Hero nodded, and disappeared behind the King. The large enemy swung his blade at the King, who barely managed to step back in time to avoid losing his head. As the creature prepared for a second attack, the Hero appeared behind him, running his blade through its knees. The goliath fell to its knees, yelling in pain, as the King ran up and plunged his sword into its throat. The Hero followed suit, his blade separating the creatures head from its shoulders. As it fell, they both felt dozens of souls enter their bodies. They turned and continued down the pathway, hollowed men attacking them, but failing to draw a single drop of blood.
Soon they found themselves in a court yard, with a large cathedral on one side, guarded by a trio of knights.

"They say, if the enemies look tough, it's probably the right direction." Noted the Hero, with a hint of enjoyment in his voice. The King wiped the sweat from his brow, and eyed the knights carefully. 2 were using a spear, and one had a sword and shield. The king looked at the hollowed bodies on the ground, and bent down to pick up a sword. He gave the Hero a sign, and they began running at the knights. The first knight, using a spear, heard them coming and sprinted towards them. The Hero managed to duck the spear, and tackled the knight to the ground, alerting the other two. The one with the sword and shield ran forward first, he went to bring his sword down on the hero, but the Kings blade caught it, and forced the knight back. With a quick motion, the King used his second sword to knock the knight off its feet. He plunged his first blade into the face of the knight the Hero had tackled, as the Hero hopped up to deter the other lancer from attacking. As the sword using knight got up, the king kicked him across the face, plunging both blades into its chest. He looked up to see the Hero dodging the spear, and called out for him, tossing his second blade.
The Hero caught it in a spin, deflecting a spear thrust with one sword and plunging the second into its chest.

As the knight fell to the ground, the Hero handed the second sword back to the King, and they walked into the building. There they found an elderly woman sitting in a chair, mumbling to herself.

"Hello?" Called out the Hero. The woman looked up, the hood on her robe hiding everything on her face except the smile that was forming.

"Hello.. Unkindled Ones.. My name is Emma, Priestess of Lothric castle and, You will find no Lords of Cinder here.."

"Where are they?" Asked the King, growing impatient.

"They have retreated to their homes..far and away at the base of this castle.. Go through the gates if you seek to rekindle the flames"

The Hero pointed out the doorway, and the King looked, seeing a large gate in the opposite direction.

"Go quickly." Said Emma, with laughter in her voice. "The flames dwindle, and death..it dances in the valley"
