"Karla, it's okay mija. It's okay to like girls," her mother said supportively.
"Yes mija, you can't choose who you fall in love with. It's silly to judge people based on the gender they fall in love with. Why should it matter to anyone?" her dad said with a supportive smile.
"Really, you're okay with it?" Camila said sniffling the snot back into her nose.
"Of course we only want you to be happy," her mother said and her father nodded in agreement.
"I also have a girlfriend and she goes to my school," Camila said with more confidence than before.
"That's great mija! What's her name?" Her mom asked.
"Her name is Lauren and she lives across the street," Camila said giggling with a coat of red blush on her face.
"Wait what?" her parents both said in confusion.
"Yeah, she lives across the street," Camila said pointing out of the window.
"Well that's great mija, you should invite her over for dinner so we can have a proper meeting, yeah?" her mom said.
"Okay, I think she'll enjoy that. Thank you mommy, thank you papi, I love you," Camila said giving both of them a kiss on the cheek.
"We love you too mija, you should see if she can come over tomorrow night?" her mom said.
"Okay, I will. Thank you again," Camila said to her parents while walking out of their bedroom. Camila's parents hugged her and Camila decided she might as well go into Sofi's room and tell her since she got her parents over with.
Camila walked into Sofi's room.
"HI MILA WANT TO SEE MY PICTURE I DREW?!?" Sofi shouted excitedly shoving a drawing into Camila's face, when her older sister came into her room.
"Wow it's so pretty, good job. What is it?" Camila giggled.
"It's you and that girl," Sofi said.
Camila was really confused because Sofi never met Lauren or any of the girls before.
"What girl?" Camila asked her little sister.
"The one who said there was platanos on your face then wiped it off with her shirt," Sofi said.
Camila laughed when she remembered Lauren came to her house and took the banana off of her upper lip with her shirt.
"Oh that girl," Camila said keeping the large smile on her face.
"Yeah I drew you and her holding hands," Sofi said.
"Why did you draw us holding hands?" Camila said furrowing her eyebrows at her sister.
"Because I saw you at the park holding hands today," Sofi said.
Camila's eyes widened hoping that's all Sofi saw. Hoping that she didn't see her and Lauren kiss then make out then kiss again.
"You saw me at the park?" Camila said to her sister.
"Yeah I went to the park with my friend Jaimee and Mrs. Lee," Sofi said.
"Oh, did you only see us hold hands?" Camila questioned Sofi.
"Yeah when I saw you I was going to say hi, but then Mrs. Lee said we needed to go home," Sofi said.
Camila sighed in relief that her little sister didn't see her and Lauren's kiss, or her yelling at the boys in the park.
"Well I actually want to tell you something Sof," Camila said.
"Like a secret?" Sofi said.
"Yeah like a secret," Camila smiled.
"Oh I like secrets!" Sofi whisper yelled.
"Good, the secret is that the girl you saw me with is actually my girlfriend," Camila whispered to Sofi.
Sofi opened up her mouth wide and covered it with both of her small hands as if she was just told the biggest government secret.
"Really?" Sofi said in a whisper shout.
"Yes really!" Camila whisper shouted in return.
"So since she's your girlfriend you guys like kiss and hold hands?" Sofi asked with a confused look on her face.
"Yeah we do," Camila laughed at her little sisters reaction "Is that okay with you?"
"It's only okay with me if you pinky promise to still play dolls with me," Sofi said holding out her tiny pinky.
Camila laughed and wrapped her pinky around her sister's smaller one and said "I promise,"
"Good, can your girlfriend play with us too?" Sofi asked.
"Of course she can play with us. Are you sure you're okay with me being a girl and me liking girls?" she asked her little sister.
"Yeah there isn't anything wrong with it. It's just a person. Princesses like princesses, and some Princes like Princes. It doesn't always have to be a prince and a princess. They just need a happily ever after," Sofi said.
Camila thought it was the cutest thing the way her sister put it. She said goodbye to Sofi and went back to her room to text Lauren back.
