Chapter 4 - Awesome Tattoos

Jake's POV

When me and Demi, were on our way to to gym. We earned quite a few curious stares. Okay, that was an understatement. The whole hall way stop what they were doing to watch us walk down the hall way. Whisper echoed off the walls as we turned the corner. There's always that one person that needs to learn how to whisper and when we pass them, they just happen to say to her friend. 

"That the boy who threaten Randy." said the girl with a theactrical whisper. 

A sharp inhale of breathe sounding to my right, turning to my right I found Demi had stop seveal feet behide me staring at me in shock. I stared back her for a few seconds, before realising we were in a hall way filled with kids waiting for a show. 

"I suggest you guy get going" I said in a low meansing tone, loud enough everyone could hear me. When noboady move I roared "MOVE!!"  

With that everyone scattered, ovbiously fighten about what I just did. That's one of our other powers, intimdation and we can use people's fear against them. I never like that power therfore I don't use it. That much. Now it's just me and Demi in the hall way and let me just said it is very tense. I slump my shoulders and perepar myself for the blow. I really stuff this up. The one person I've liked in a long time and I've messed it up. What I was not expecting was Demi, to come up to me and give me a hug. She wrapped her arms around my neck and pressed her body to me, I hesitate before I put my around her. I've never had a hug before, I mean me and my brother are close but never like that. We stood there embracing in the middle of the hall way.  

While we were hugging, Demi's body started to shake. I thought she was crying, so I tried offering words of comfort. 

"Hey, Demi. It's ok." 

At that moment, she steped back and looked into my eyes. In her I eyes, I saw amusment and awe. Her face red and she looked like she was trying not to laugh but still had a huge grin on. 

"Did you really threaten Randy?" 

"Ummm, yeah. But.....um... don't be mad, I didn't...... hurt him. Just told him not to mess with me." I babbled. I never babble. What wrong with me. 

"Oh my god, that so awesome. I mean, come on how is that not funny." she started while giggling a bit "What did you do to him?" 

Perplexed I replied "I held him up, by his throat, agastist the wall. Told him not mess with me, then dropped him on his butt" 

Demi brust out laughing. She was cluching her mid-section and there were tears in her eyes. I stood there, trying to figue out what was so funny about that to her. I mean to it was very funny but thats in my blood. I belong to a family of evil mages, this is why our powers are something that is not earth related. Normal mages, the good ones, had power that relate to the earth. For example, I know a boy called Luke. His mother had the power to talk to animals and his dad can minipulate water. His sister can control the wind and he can control trees and plants. If you ask me those are pretty useless powers. 

What I didn't notice Demi had stop laughing and was shaking me shoulders, with a panicked look on her face. 

"Jake, are you ok? Can you hear me? Please say something, your scaring me" 

I snapped out my daze. When I zone out, it looks like I'm dead. My eyes glaze over and I don't move. Not even breathe. 

"Sorry, I kinda zoned out there."  

"Zoned out?" she said in an unbeliving tone "Zoned out my butt. You looked like you just died on your feet. You weren't breathing. How... how... how can you do that?" 

"Listen, I'm really sorry. But I can't help it when I zone out and when I zone out I tend to do it while I'm by myself so I don't really realize it." I said trying to clam her down "Why don't go to gym, 'cause I pretty sure we're late." 

"Oh crap, we are late" she said then started running "Oh, no, oh, no. We are so going to get detention." 

"Then, let's hurry up."  

With that I picked Demi up, chucked her on to my back, so I was give her a piggy back, and ran down the hall. 

Demi's POV

When we arrived at the changing room, I directed Jake to the boy changing while I made my way to the girls. When I entered the changing room, all chatter seized. Everyone was still as they watch me move to a clear space. When I settled down, the chatter started up again. As I got change I heared bit of other people's conversations aka the rumours that people are making  

"OMG, did you know Demi and that new guy, are boyfiend and girlfriend?" 

"I heard that, they meet ages ago and she is carrying his baby" 

"Someone told me, that they practice evil spells in the school basement" 

All of these rumours were so stupid, I couldn't be asked to waste my breath and tell them it was wrong. When the rumours stoped buzzing and people exited the changing room, Kristy bounded up to me.  

"Demi! Why are you hang out with that guy? I thought you told you he was dangerous." 

"What guy?" 

"Oh, don't play dumb with me. You know exactly who I'm talking about." 

"Listen, Kristy. If I remeber correctly, me and you, are no longer friends. So you mind your buisness and I'll mind mine. Got It, got It, good." 

With that I walk away. Like a boss. Entering the gym, I reliased that we had to share our gym class with the boys. Great. I went to go find a sit on the bleaches, when I sat down I overheard to boys raving about something. 

"Dude, did you see that new guy's tatoos?" said a boy with long blonde hair. 

"Oh, yeah. He has tattoos all over his torso. He has a giant eagal on his back and a buch of other stuff all over his body." 

Well, that interesting. The boys contuined raving about all of Jake's tattoos. The person of the week, walked into the gym and made his way over to me. As he sat down next to me, I heard catcalls, that sounded for my one and only brother. My brother, Byran, was oringinally suppose to be in college but unfortunetaly, he got kept behide because he failed all of his subjects. That's my genius brother. I glanced over to Jake, and found him staring at. Again. Thats the one thing that is really unnerving about him. He stares at me like her can see deep into my soul and see all of secrets that I keep hidden. 

I finally broke the slience becasue this was causing a scene in the gym. 

"So, what is all this I hear about you having such awsome tattoos" 

That caused him to snap out of his daze. He looked a me with ammusment in his eyes. 

"Oh, wow the word does travel fast" he said with a grin that eased the tension between us.
