Percy and the Cuttle(Cuddle)fish

Percy would expect there to be more sea life in well, the sea.

He had finally convinced Leo to land the Argo II in the middle of the ocean and actually travel on water for a bit (like a ship is supposed to.) He had decided to take a break from his chaotic life and take a relaxing swim in his father's territory.

After he let himself sink into the deep waters, he swam around a bit expecting to see some sea creatures. He was also hoping he wouldn't come across some sea monsters. After a thirty minutes of aimlessly swimming about, Percy gave up of seeing any sea creatures.

Suddenly, Percy sees movement from the corner of his eye. He turns towards it, but ends up seeing nothing but water. 'Maybe it's just my imagination' he thinks to himself, but once again from the corner of his eye, he see a flash of a dull yellow color.

He once again turns quickly only to see empty ocean ahead of him. Percy frowns then closes his eyes. He concentrates on propelling his words through the water to whomever or whatever is out there. "Show yourself" he says in his mind, "Stop hiding."

Percy opens his eyes to see an interesting looking fish right in front of his face. It had long tentacles where its mouth is and a stingray-like body except chubbier. The most interesting thing was its w-shaped pupils.  

"A Cuttlefish?" Percy says as he tilts his head to the side.

Cuddle! a voice that sounds like a little kid's voice echoes in his mind.

"Cuddle? don't you mean Cuttle?" Percy replies. The fish suddenly responds by rapidly swimming up to Percy and cuddling into Percy's arms.

Cuddle! the fish says in Percy's head. 'hmmmm, I guess it's a Cuddlefish,' Percy thinks. As if reading his mind, the cuddlefish snuggles more into his arm.

"um..." Percy tries to swim backwards away from the fish, but the fish just follows. He doesn't really know what to do with the clingy fish. He doesn't want to be rude because he doesn't know what a cuttlefish does when it's angry and he doesn't want to find out now.

"um so, Mr. Cuddlefish, I really have to get back to my friends now so if you don't mind-"Percy is cut off.

Cuddle! He starts to get agitated at the fish and begins to try to pry off the fish as it attaches itself to Percy's arm.

"I really have to go!" The Cuddlefish must not understand english or it just wants to just completely ignore Percy because it won't budge.

"Percy!" Percy hears in his mind. He looks up to see a large salmon hovering slightly above him.

"Oh no, not another one!" Percy mentally yells at the fish, "I already have to deal with this annoying Cuddlefish! um...no offense Mr. Cuddlefish."

"Percy, it's me, Frank!" the salmon says as swims down to Percy's level, "We're all worried about you! You said you would be gone only forty minutes."

"Sorry man," Percy says. Then he gives Frank a questioning look. "First a giant goldfish and now a salmon? You have very odd choices in what sea creatures you turn into."

"I was eating salmon on the ship and I kind of got distracted when concentrating on which animal I should turn into. Come to think of it, I probably should have told the others what I was turing into. I hope Leo doesn't go fishing for salmon in the next hour." Frank turns and looks at Percy's arm and the cuddlefish on it.He tries to raise an eyebrow, but finds out it's difficult as a  salmon. "Made a new friend Percy?"

Percy rolls his eyes. 

"Yeah, this is Mr. Cuddlefish."

"Don't you mean CUTTLEfish?" Percy looks down at his arms and sees the cuddlefish snuggling into his arm.

"Nah, it's definitely a CUDDLEfish"

"I don't think cuttlefish actually cuddle."

"This one does!"

"Well can you tell the cuddlefish that you need to leave?"

"What do you think I've been doing for the past twenty minutes!"

"Well we need to go soon. Leo is planning to take off this afternoon!"

"Well, what am I supposed to do? Ask Leo to build us a fish tank and bring Mr. Cuddlefish with us?"

"I can't BELIEVE we have to take it with us!" Frank says as he rolls his eyes.

"I think it's kind of cute," Hazel says while staring into the tank as Mr. Cuddlefish swims happily about.

"I'm just glad I got it off my arm!" Percy says from the corner of the room.

"What should we name it?" Annabeth says from behind Percy.

"Bessie II!" Percy exclaims and Annabeth giggles.

"You really like that name!" she says while laughing. She gives him a peck on the cheek.

"Yeah," he says blushing a bit.

"Hey!" All heads turn towards the tank. Nico has one arm in the tank and Bessie II had attached itself once again to an arm. "I just dropped something in the tank and when I went to get it out, this happened!" Nico says as he motions to his arm.

Cuddle!

"He likes to cuddle" Percy stated and Nico's face scrunches up.

"I dislike being touched, nevermind being cuddled." Nico says.

Cuddle!

Percy and Frank look at each other and they were both thinking the same thing.

'Oh no, not again!'
