One In The Chamber

I stand in front of the bathroom mirror. I take a minute to just analyze my features. There are bags under my eyes, and there were little dots of blood here and there.

I put the black case, that I had retrieved from the kitchen, on the sink. I open the case and stare at the item inside. It's a sleek black gun.

I slowly take the gun out and just hold it in my hands. I no longer recognized myself as I look into the mirror. My blood shot eyes continue to examine the gun, trying to stall the horrible action I was about to preform.

I don't know why this was so hard for me to do. I had no reason to live.

I sigh and run a hand through my hair. Should I leave a note? Who would I even leave it for, I think to myself.

I begin to pace around the bathroom, wishing there was a way out of this.

In the end, I decide to leave a short note. I couldn't find anything to say, so the letter simply read:

My parents are gone, so I guess I'll just leave this for whoever finds me. All I can really say is I'm sorry. I can't live with myself, with what I've become. I can't take the guilt, and the pain, the emptiness. It's just all too much. I'm hollow. I can't take life anymore.

My hands don't stop shaking the entire time I'm writing. It's crazy how everyone starts out so innocent, and full of happiness. Now look at me. I'm writing my suicide note. When I was younger my parents could have never guessed their fate, nor mine.

Dark has taken all control, and God can't even save my soul. It's just what I deserve cause I am evil and despicable, I think as I hold the gun to my head. One shot, ready to go, I put my finger on the trigger. There's on in the chamber, just waiting for me to end it all.

Where have all my morals gone?

That was the last thought that echoed through my mind before I shot myself.

10 years later

The new family admired their home. The couple had a young daughter and a teenage son. The son was helping his parent move some boxes into the garage. The young girl went to explore the house.

She runs upstairs and finds a nice looking room. There's a doll sitting on the floor in the middle of the, otherwise empty, room.

She goes to retrieve the doll, and begins to play with it. When she looks back up, she is startled by two figures.

"Don't be scared!" The girl crouches down to the girls level.

"I'm Luke and this is April" The boy tells the small girl.

"We're your new friends" Luke smiles down at the girl.

The girl smiles, revealing a jack-o-lantern like smile because of her missing teeth.

"Best friends?" She asks them, with a hopeful look on her face.

"Best friends forever" Luke smiles sinisterly at the young girl.
