Shopping time! Yeeey, I'm super excited! That was sarcasm.
I guess every single girl on this world loves shopping. But for me, I can't tell if I like it since I've never experienced it. I go with Vanessa sometimes, but I never buy anything. Poor girls problem.
My sister is doing her best and working so hard for us. Unfortunately, we still have some financial problems. I usually get a job at summer and help her out. But my mother never move her ass to help us, she just spend our money on drinks... I hate her.
"What do you think of this one?" She asks referring to the dress covering her body. She was wearing a pretty fit-and-flare cocktail dress.
"Awww! This dress is super cute." I tell her with a big smile.
"Cute? I want something sexy." She says looking at her reflection on the mirror. "But since we don't have so much time, I'll buy this one." She adds handing her credit card.
Vanessa's parents aren't that rich, but since she is their only daughter, she is spoiled. Sometimes I envy her for having such a perfect family.
"Why didn't you buy anything Em? What are you going to wear today?" She asks as we get on the car.
"I brought my black leather dress."
"As usual." She comments.
Yep, she doesn't exactly know about my financial situation. She thinks both my sister and my mother work. I know lying is bad, especially to your closest friends, but I can't just tell her that my mother is a lazy selfish bitch.
Arriving to her house Mrs White greets us then heads to the kitchen to prepare us something to eat while me and Vanessa go upstairs to her room.
"Great. We still have one hour and a half. I'm going to take shower Em. Do you need anything?" She asks.
"Nah, I'll wait here." I say taking a seat on her comfortable bed.
"I won't be long." She replies before closing the door.
After few minutes, I decide to send Jason a message.
We have to talk. Today. At the party.
Once I've pressed the send button, I begin to regret it.
Can't wait to see you babe. I've missed you...
Babe? Seriously? When I have read the texto, I felt something on my stomach. It felt like hope... or happiness. I slap myself on my mind at this thought. I can't still have feelings for him. Not after everything he did to me. Ugh, I'm so pathetic.
"Emily, Sweetheart. Are you okay?" Jane asks as she gets in the room with two cups of juice and some cake. She deposits them on the desk and sits next to me.
"Tell me honey. Do you have issues at your new school?" She replies.
"No. Everything is alright." I answer with a forced smile.
"Look at me Em." She says grabbing my head to face her. "Your eyes are filled with tears. You know that I love you like my own daughter and that you can tell me anything, right?"
"Yeah... but I'm really fine." She is so sweet and kind. Jane is the mother that I've never had.
"I will let it go now. But remember, I'm always here for you." She says pulling me into a hug.
"Thank you." I manage to say, holding my tears.
"Are you hugging each other without me!" Vanessa replies as she gets into the room with her eyes wild open. "Group hug!" She yells pulling us into a tight hug.
At this moment, I felt safe and happy. They are like my second family. If I could choose my family, I would definitely choose them and Caroline of course.
Jane leaves us and the preparations begin. We turn on Van's playlist and take our places in front of the mirror. Vanessa curls her hair while I draw the thinnest possible line around both eyes. I don't use many products since I'm not so fond of make up and stuff.
"Want me to curl your hair Em?" Vanessa asks.
"Nah, curly hair doesn't suit me." I say and she rolls her eyes.
"That's what we will see." She replies grabbing her curling iron. "I don't want to hear any objection young lady." I laugh at her choice of words and nod.
After what felt like an eternity, she finished. Finally. I hate sitting for a long period of time with nothing to do.
"Tadadada!" She turns my chair to face the mirror.
"Wow!" I exclaim. "It looks great. Thank you." I'm really surprised by the result. My hair is perfectly curled against my face.
"Told you." She reminds me sticking out her tongue. "Now it's time to dress up."
We wear our dresses and high heels shoes then we put on some perfume. Vanessa have the perfume's collection goal.
"Let's go!" She shouts as she grabs her keys.
"Can you shout any louder?" I say touching my ears.
I greet Mr White before leaving and tell her parents goodbye.
"You will have the house all for yourself tonight." She replies with a smirk on her face.
"Call me when you get there, just so I know you're okay." Ken, her father, says as we get out.
Ken is such a caring father. Something that I've never had. A man who protects me from the bad guys. I wonder, if my father didn't leaves us, how my life would be?
"You are thinking of him right?" Vanessa teases me.
"What? Who are you talking about?" I say laughing.
"That guy called... Liam, right? You had that stupid smile so don't deny it."
"Never. And please stop talking about him. He's nothing to me but a little annoying jerk."
Vanessa stops talking and concentrate on the road. But I can see her smile getting bigger.
We finally arrive to Amanda's house. Vanessa parks her car and we get in the house. I can't help but glance around to see everyone staring. I keep my head down and follow my friend through the crowded house.
This night is going to be long...
