Junior year. Full of idiots you call students. I can't help but wonder how I even made it this far in highschool.

I stood against my locker just scoping out the hallway. A few people glanced at me as I glanced back at them.

"Chase! Chica, how is my wonderful girlfriend!?" My wild friend yelled at me as she happily walked towards me.

Yes, my name is Chase and yes I wonder why my mother would name her little girl Chase.

"Hi Carmen," I softly smiled at her.

"You okay?" She smiled, moving pieces of hair in my face to the back of my ear.

Carmen is my best friend and she's always so concerned about me. It warmed my insides.

I slowly nodded at her before taking her hand in mine and walking down the hall, towards class.

"Ooo are you two finally dating?" He smirked. TJ that is. Always so annoying but also apart of my little group of friends.

"Shut up TJ," I rolled my eyes.

"We've been dating, asshole," Carmen jumped in. Me and Carmen looked at each other before bursting into laughter.

Me and Carmen are really close friends, basically sisters. We're close to the point where peoples' minds go straight to the gutter when they see us.

"You guys wanna come to my house after school," Carmen asked.

"Mhm," I hummed as we entered first period.

"Yeah whatever," TJ shrugged. He peeked his head in our class telling us he'll see us later before going to his own class.

Carmen dragged me to a seat in the back of the class. We were somewhat early so she began talking.

"We'll be 18 next year, chica. How are we celebrating," she asked.

"I don't know. Maybe we'll see when we get there k?" I laughed at her eagerness to be a legal adult.

Soon our teacher, Mr. Gray stood up to begin teaching. He was built and couldn't have been older than 28.

"Do you think he'd go for me?" Carmen whispered to me.

"The teacher? No he's too old for you. We'll find you a boyfriend before you're 18 so you don't go for old people," I whispered back.

"But he's not old and just look at him. He gorgeous. And maybe he'll help me with my grade," she smirked.

"I'm sorry. Carmen. Chase. Am I interrupting your conversation?" Mr. Gray asked loudly.

"Well since you asked. Yes. Yes you are," I responded, holding a straight face. You could hear the other students trying to hold back their laughs.

"Here let me interrupt it more then. Chase, come to the front of the room, yeah?" He said, patting a desk for me to sit at.

"No, now I'm gonna be lonely," Carmen spoke up.

"Maybe you should tell your friend to keep quiet then," Mr.Gray assured.

Carmen slouched back in her chair with her arms crossed and I squinted my eyes at the teacher.

"I don't want to sit there," I told him.

"Detention then? Maybe I can call your mom?" He said, smirking as if he'd won an argument.

I only rolled my eyes. "Oh, silly, silly, Gray. My mom won't answer the phone. You should call my brother though, he's more fun to talk to."

Carmen tried to hold her laugh in.

"Chase, come to the front now!" Mr. Gray demanded.

Carmen pushed my shoulder, telling me to go. I looked at her, both of us smiling at the whole situation.

"Mr. Gray, I love when you get feisty. Real attractive," I said, standing up from my seat and moving to the front.

"Don't forget to head to detention after school Chase," he had an annoyed tone now.

"Will do kid," I saluted him.

He shook his head before continuing to teach his pre-calc lesson on the board.

Once class had finally ended, I met Carmen at the door and we walked out together.

"Chase! We were suppose to go to my house after school," she whined.

"Carmen, detention is only an hour," I whined back, mocking her tone.

She huffed. "Well I'll see you at lunch okay. Gotta get to class before I get another late slip. I'll end up in detention right with you," she laughed.

"Might as well make it a group thing," I raised my eyebrow suggestively.

"No!" She said already halfway around the corner.

I shook my head at her before walking in the opposite direction to my class.
As I was walking, I heard the late bell ring.

I sighed loudly before picking up my speed to a slight jog. As I was jogging, I accidentally ran into some guy, causing all of his books to fall.

"I'm so sorry," he pleaded, bending to the ground to pick his stuff up.

I looked at him debating on whether I should help him or just walk.

Sighing once more, I bent down to help him pick his stuff up.

"I really am sorry," he mumbled.

"I know you are. Still trying to help you though," I slightly snapped.

I looked at him, taking in his features.

"Hey, you're in my math class," I said. "You don't say much."

"You do all the talking we need in the class," he mumbled.

Sarcastic. Just great.

I rolled my eyes at his response.

"Nice to see you pay attention. Considering you sit in the corner all quiet," I told him.

He had dark, curly-ish hair. In class, he wore glasses but they weren't here this time. His eyes were dark brown and he looked better than I expected him too.

"I have to go," he mumbled before taking all of this things and walking away.

I made my way to second period and found a spot next to TJ.

"Why are you late," he whispered.

"Ran into some guy. That nerdy guy in my first period."

"The one with glasses who doesn't talk," he questioned further.

"Ding ding ding," I said.

"Oh, well here," he handed me a pencil.

"What's this for?" I asked.

"You're in school idiot," he shook his head.

The teacher passed out worksheets, not even addressing my lateness because its a normal thing for me.

"Read the passage and answer question 1-5," the teacher instructed.

I swear school is my own version of hell.

And that's chapter 1. Let me know what you think.
