Finally Friday night had come and that hell of a school day ended. Every time I saw Taylor, we just looked at each other, no emotions or expressions. He looked dead inside and it only made me wonder more and more about him.
"Sooo Chase, what're we doing tonight?" Carmen asked, plopping down on my bed.
Currently we both sat in my room, wearing T-shirts and sweats.
"Uhh... You wanna go out or stay in?" I questioned.
"Let's go out maybe?" She said it coming out as more of a question.
"Ok, where?"
"Well I was texting TJ and he said there's a party a couple blocks down. You up for that?"
I thought about it for a second but eventually nodded. Might as well do something on a Friday night.
"Ok cool. What should we wear?" Carmen asked as she went to my closet and started looking through my clothes.
"Just pick something," I shrugged, getting up to go look with her.
She picked out a thin, white shirt and some blue jeans. She stepped aside to get dressed as I continued to look through the closet.
I turned around to go look through my dresser but the undergarments Carmen was wearing caught my eye.
"Um ma'am. Might I ask who you're wearing lace for," I raised an eyebrow.
"For me. Now go pick out some clothes," she answered.
"Hm," I hummed as I went to open my drawer.
I eventually just grabbed some leggings and a hoodie.
"So that's what you're wearing, chica?" Carmen had a look of confusion mixed with digust.
"Let me be comfortable...now let's go."
As we made our way downstairs, in came my mother.
"And where do you think your going?" My mom asked. "You're always going out and doing too much. Have a seat for once," she rolled her eyes.
I swear my mother hates me.
"Just up the block an-"
"Whatever. Just don't call me when you screw up," my mother shoved passed me and Carmen.
'I'm sorry,' Carmen mouthed to me as we made our way to the car.
My mom is usually drunk so when she speaks, she doesn't realize what she's saying. Or maybe she does and just doesn't like me at all. Either way, Carmen knows how my mom is and she helps me with it.
Whatever. I'm out of here next year and I'm not looking back anyway.
I could hear the loud music as we pulled up to the party and I could see teens in the lawn doing lord knows what.
"Where's TJ," I asked as we got out the car.
"Uhm. He said come around back," Carmen read off of her phone.
She shrugged but we followed orders and went around back into a gated backyard.
I could smell the alcohol and weed through the air.
I cringed slightly because the smell of drugs wasn't my cup of tea.
"Carmen! Chase! How are you?" TJ asked too excitedly.
"Look who's drunk?" Carmen smirked.
"Correction. I just might be stoned."
Well his eyes are red so I believe him. Me and Carmen went inside to find the real party, everyone dancing and the lights were extra dim.
Carmen pulled me over to the side so she could grab a drink and scope out some cute boy to dance with.
"You see any?" She asked.
"Go look for a cute boy. You won't be able to see any from here," I pushed her.
"Come with me," she held her hand out for me to grab. I took her hand and we got lost in the crowd of people.
We were laughing and dancing but it was getting really hot. Carmen was dancing and drinking at the same time somehow. I took my hoodie off at some point in the middle of dancing so I was in a tang top.
"Hey Carmen, I need some space really quick. I'm heading upstairs," I yelled over the people and music.
"Uh yeah ok," she said confused.
I was only going upstairs because I knew that outside was still full of smoking teens and upstairs usually didn't have too many people.
I went upstairs and paced in the hallway, wiping my face with my hoodie before tying it back around my waist.
As I began to cool off slightly, I saw a room at the end of the hall. It caught my eye due to the fact that it was the only room with light.
Me being too curious, I went to the room. I peeked in to see, the one and only, Taylor.
"Why are you here," I asked coming fully into the doorway.
"I live here smart one," he answered blankly.
"You okay?" I walked closer to him. He was sitting on his bed.
His room had a large bed with dark blue sheets. His room was very plain, posters with bands here and there. He had a desk and some other boy stuff.
He stared blankly at the wall.
"Are you high?" I asked him, slightly laughing and in shock.
"You wanna try one?" he asked holding up a half eaten brownie.
"No thanks?"
This was the nicest he had been since we met so I decided that I should take advantage of the moment.
I went and sat next to him on his bed.
"What're you doing?" He smiled.
"You smile? I had know idea."
"Seriously though, you should really try this. It's sooo good," he said biting it. You could tell he had eaten way too many by his behavior. "C'mon, just once."
"Just one bite," I said cautiously. I slowly took one from his small stash beside him.
He smiled at me as if he had won at something.
"See, it's good, no?" He said once I bit into it.
What I was ashamed of the most is that I had eventually finished the brownie, craving another.
This was gonna be a long night...
