Chapter 10: We Meet Again in the After Life

  In the next building, a boy who was around middle school age, groaned in pain as he touched his head. He could feel a split along with some dry blood at the side of his head. He didn't remember how he got the wound, but all he needed was to get up and find his friends. He flinched in pain as he stood up, feeling his bones crack in the process. Using the broken pieces for support, he grabbed some wood and used it as a stick for the time being. There, he started walking through the dark hallway. 

In the other building, the Mochida family as well as the twins sat down in a classroom, coming up with a plan. Ruka sat on the desk, bringing her knees to her chest as her twin spoke, " We find to find the others. All we know is Haru is dead and Jun might be as well." 

" I think Anna and Souta might have found someone already," Satoshi said. " They always have luck on their side." 

" Would luck help right now Satoshi?" Naomi questioned her husband. 

" Anna did always have luck," Ruka agreed. She knew her best friend better than anyone, by her interests, fears, and secrets. She was the only one who she would tell things to, and promised to keep them. She also knew of her best friend's strong points, giving her the advantage in some cases.  "She probably already figured out everything, as usually." 

" Yeah, but this is a haunted school where we can't find anyone," Ryu said. "Do you really think she can figure out what the hell happened when there are corpses around and possibly ghosts who take over people's bodies." 

" I suppose not," she muttered. 

" I believe in her," Satoshi said. " The real issue if finding the others. I thought I heard Nagisa earlier, but we found you two instead. She sounded as if she was in pain before." 

" Nagisa?" Ruka questioned. She suspected her younger cousin would have bolted by now, because of her speed in track. She would have out ran the ghosts and try to beat anyone if they hurt her. " All I hope is that she's alright." 

" Nagisa is strong," Ryu added. " I wonder how Mom and Dad are doing." 

" For right now, we just have to rest," Satoshi said. He smiled at the twins. " You two have been walking around all day, you must be tired." 

" I guess you're right," Ryu muttered. He hadn't realized how tired he was until he sat down. He figured his sister must have been exhausted as well, feeling the spirits rooming around the school would have made someone tired. 

Ruka sighed as she leaned back and rested on the desk. It was better than resting on the ground. Couple seconds later, both their eyes were closed and breathing gently. Yuka and Lenora retreated to the corner of the desk, where Leonra was leaning against her mother's chest. Naomi sat down on the ground, resting next to her husband. 

" Do you really think they're alright?" she asked. " I know Anna will protect Souta with her life, but I have a bad feeling about this school." 

" I do as well," Satoshi replied, rubbing his wife's arm, " but we have to be strong for the children. We're all terrified about how things can turn out." 

" And you're usually the one who's the scared one," Naomi joked. 

" Bringing them up now? I hated Ayumi's ghost stories. I don't even know how her kids handle it." 

" Because they have her genes," she replied. She sighed, " I just everyone comes out alive here."
