It's been two weeks since the kidnapping. James and his family were taken care of with the police investigating the loan sharks. In order to be better protected, they decided to move a couple of towns over.
No one at school ever found out, everyone involved deciding to keep it under wraps. Instead, everyone began to focus even more on Homecoming, everyone busy getting a date, buying the tickets, and arranging everything else. Little did Alex know that this week would be one of the worst weeks he's been through.
It all started before school started. As usual, Edward and Emmett had picked the two of teens up. They were just getting out of the car at school when Connor, a guy from Alex's gym class, comes up to talk to him.
"Hey, Alex." Connor calls out as he walks over to the group. "You got a second?"
Before Alex can say anything, Edward brushes past him with a slight scowl on his face before heading towards the entrance. Confused, he watches as he leaves before answering.
"Um, yeah. What's up?" Nodding to Tom and Emmett, the two head off for their classes as well.
"Well," he suddenly blushes, and Alex can tell he's a bit nervous from the way his hands fidget with his backpack straps, "so you know that Homecoming is in a couple of weeks?"
"Yeah. Have you asked anyone?" Alex asks, not really sure where he's going with this. It's not like they talk much, they only team up during class.
"No, it's girl's choice."
"Oh, that's cool."
"Do you have a date yet?" He asks, glancing up at Alex.
Alex shakes his head with a shrug. "No one's asked. Besides, I haven't really thought about it."
"Okay, well," Connor then takes a piece of paper out of his pocket, "if you still need a date, or, you know, want to go with me, just give me a call."
It's easy to say this caught him completely off guard. He didn't think that Connor was into guys, especially since he's seen him hanging out with all those girls at school. So, when he stuffs the paper in his hand, Alex is too dumbfounded to do anything but hold it and watch him as he walks away. After standing in the cold for some time, he decides to just stuff the piece of paper in his pocket and decides to push it out of his mind
Initially he had intended to just get through his day without worrying about this. But by second period Alex was struggling to remain sane. As he walked into the classroom, he ignores Edward's semi-amused look in favor for sitting down and letting his forehead rest on the table.
"It's only second period. How are you already tired?" He teases, earning a glare from Alex.
"You have no idea the morning I had. First, I got asked out by Connor who I didn't even know was into guys. Then I had to go through the same thing with two other guys and a girl." Sighing, Alex lifts his head up and plops his chin on his hand. "I didn't know what to say so I ended up rejecting all of them."
"Well, why did you reject them?" Edward whispers quietly.
He hesitates for a second before looking down. "I've only had one girlfriend before and that didn't end very well. I don't have much experience when it comes to dating in general."
Edward shrugs and lets his arms rest on the table. "It's just a dance."
"Then are you going with anyone?" Alex is slightly caught off guard for blurting that out all of a sudden.
For a brief moment there's an unreadable look on Edward's face before it closes off. "No."
Confused, Alex opens his mouth to ask what happed when the teacher walks in to start the class off. Alex wants to pass a note to Edward, asking if anything's wrong, but they soon jump into a test that takes up the entire class period. Before he's able to get a word in edgewise by the end of class, Edward grabs his things and leaves the room. Not a word being uttered.
