After a weekend of rest and gaming with Tom, Alex finds himself both anxious and excited about going back to school. On one hand, he's anxious to finally have it be Monday. Not because Alex dreads going to school, but because he plans to make it clear to Edward that he won't tolerate his treatment towards Tom while he was gone.
If it weren't for the fact that Forks High School is a smaller populated school, meaning that gossip travels fast, Alex would go all out. But he can't afford to have the attention put on him anymore than it already has. He had put up with the attention due to his affiliation with the Cullens, but after Monday there won't be any more Cullens in his life. He can't deny that he won't miss them, being able to talk and hang out with the family whenever Tom and he were free. They really started to become closer friends to the two than anyone else at school. Which makes this all the more difficult for him.
Then again. If they can't be bothered to treat Tom, Alex's best friend and brother, with any respect at all, then he doesn't want them in his life. They've already proven to be a danger to their new life as is. Alex already explained to Eagle and Tom that he doesn't plan on associating with the Cullens anymore. Due to both their treatment towards Tom as well as them raising potential red flags as is. Eagle agreed with him, saying that whatever choice he makes he will support. Tom tried to talk Alex out of it. Well not really, more like telling him that he can handle himself, but he still supports whatever Alex's decision is.
Which brings him here, in Eagle's cruiser with Tom on the way to school. They could've taken the bus, but Eagle wanted to drop them off in solidarity. But secretly he's pretty sure he just doesn't want to go to work right away.
"I'll be working a late shift tonight, so I left some money on the dining room table for you guys to order take out. Just shoot me a text if you two need me to pick you up or anything, okay?" Eagle glances over at the two of them in the back seat.
"Sir, yes, sir!" Tom exclaims, giving a poor form of a salute.
"We will not let you down, sir!" Alex salutes as well.
Rolling his eyes, Eagle looks back to the road. "I don't know why I bother thinking you guys will be serious in this car."
"Well, sir, I do believe, sir, you want us to behave appropriately, sir!" Tom sounds off.
"Oh my God, shut up!" Eagle laughs, rolling his eyes as he pulls into the drop-off area at the school. "Make sure you guys save me some food."
Getting out of the car, the two teens share a grin and stand at attention while sternly shouting "Sir, yes, sir!" before cackling and closing the door to avoid hearing Eagle's shouts of annoyance.
They arrive at school a little bit earlier than usual because of Eagle needing to be at work, so there's only a couple of students milling about in the parking lot and hallway. Usually, they arrive twenty minutes before classes start and talk with the Cullens and a couple of our other friends. But they decided to just go to their lockers and head to the cafeteria before class. Not because they're avoiding them, their friends at least, but because they just didn't want to stay standing the entire time in the hallway.
"What are your plans for today?" Tom asks while rifling through his locker to find his textbook.
"Oh, you know, eat, breath, learn. The usual." He shuts his locker closed and leans against it. "Do you have practice after school?"
"Yeah, but you can head home before me. I'm probably going to be home a bit later than usual because it's Monday."
"Sounds good, just shoot me a text when you're almost done and I'll order dinner then." They both leave their lockers and head to the cafeteria. "By the way, have you talked to any of the Cullens since we got back?"
