"Strawberry Please!" (Genos)FLUFF

"It's a pleasant day."

You turned to Genos. It wasn't like him to try for small talk. He had his head tilted up to the sky. A blush coated his cheeks. The fact that he had that built into him made it even more adorable. You couldn't help but smile at him.

"It really is." 

The park you both walked through was filled to the brim with sunlight. A perfect day to be out walking with your crush. You tried to dress nice without over doing. You didn't want to alarm Genos but you wanted to look cute for today. 

The whole reason that this was happening was because Saitama told Genos he should get out more. So Genos invited you along. Since Genos was so busy he planned the time out and that gave you time to think about where to go with him.

"So," you turned to Genos, "how is Dr. Kuseno?"

"He's fine..." Genos looked like he wanted to say something else. 

You were about to ask if everything was okay when you heard metal tapping metal. You looked down to see Genos drumming his fingers against his leg.

His eyes met yours and his fingers halted their little dance. You both had stopped walking and you hadn't taken your eyes of his. He took a deep breath as you waited holding yours.

He offered his hand with a small smile. "Would you mind if we held hands?"

"Not at all!" You both gently intertwined your fingers and continued down the path.

His hand was really warm and the metal felt smooth like polished wood. He was grinning like a giant dork now and occasionally swung your hands back and forth. You were smiling so hard your cheeks hurt.

You started to wonder about his circuitry. Was he too warm? It was summer and he felt warmer than most people. You didn't want him to be uncomfortable. 

 Just then you saw it.

 An ice cream stand. 

And no line.

You smiled at your plan and squeezed Genos' hand to gain his attention.

"Hey Genos?"

"Hmm?"

"I was hoping we could play hide-and-seek."

"(Y/n) you know I can see heat signatures."

"Then don't use it!"

He chuckled,"Alright, I'll count first."

"Great!" You pointed over to an oak nearby, "There please. And since you're so fast you have to count to 100!"

He smiled and shook his head, "okay okay." 

As soon as his forehead touched the tree's trunk you ran toward the truck.

"What can I do for you?" The employee asked as you approached.

"Two ice creams. Strawberry please!" You glanced back to check on Genos while the ice cream man bustled around the food truck.

When the man handed you the two cones you blinked. Both were in the shape of flowers! 

"It's perfect thank you." You said paying quickly and making your way back to you crush.

You slowed your steps as you began to worry. Maybe this was a little much? Maybe he just wanted to be friends? He was pretty anti-social growing up so maybe that's why he got flustered?

As you thought over every last detail you arrived in front of him... or well behind him. He turned around and was a little startled to see you standing there. You presented him with his cone and he took it gratefully.

"I haven't had ice cream in a long time." He smiled wistfully. "Thank you (y/n)."

"Thank you for inviting along on your walk. I've had a really nice time."

"I-I have something to confess to you, (y/n). You see I have harbored feelings for you for some time. At first I had no idea what these feelings were, but confiding in Saitama-Sensei he told me that I most likely had a crush on you. It has been so long since I have had a crush so of course I was not sure until I spoke with Sensei. I had no idea what to do to see if you held similar feelings so Sensei offered to help me."

Your face was so warm. You thought you must be blushing heavily. Genos' confession combined with that endearing way he articulates when he's passionate made it impossible not to blush. It just showed you how serious he was.

He would have continued his thought out monologue if melting ice cream hadn't dripping on his hand. He stopped and frowned a little at the cone. "Interrupting is rude."

"Genos." 

He looked at you with as much focus as if he was studying Saitama during a fight. 

"I really like you too."

Now you both grinned like dorks before once again ice cream had something to say. You both raced to eat your own ice cream before it rained down on your hand.

"So how's it going with them Mumen?"

Mumen looked through binoculars while he was perched on his bike. One hand on the handle bar the other on his phone. "It looks as if they're happy Saitama. Why are you doing this again?"

Saitama was using his shoulder to pin his archaic phone to his ear while he ate. He was still in his pajamas and in bed. "There's nothing good on tv."

"Saitamaa" Mumen called trying to draw out the truth.

"So I wanted to check on my friends date what so wrong with that?"

Mumen paused before smiling his signature grin. He hadn't expected Saitama to be so honest. "I'm so glad you and Genos are so close."

"...."

"Me too."

After finishing the cones you resumed your walk. Resigning to the fact your hands would be sticky until you washed them you both walked arm in arm instead. You leaned your head on his firm shoulder and enjoyed another breeze.

"(y/n)"

You hummed in response.

"Would you like to come over for dinner?"

"I would love to."

I wrote this for a friend. Sorry if its short I hope I did a good job. I'm good at fluff but these two fics are my first attempts at a reader-insert so it makes things tricky. See you guys later!
