Ahh, my first day back at rehearsals. I got a few glances my way, and a few "welcome backs" and a few other things of the sort, but other than that, rehearsals went entirely normal. I had kept up with the play with my script from the hospital, and Juliet, who was playing a minor role, came to see me a couple days, and told us what I had missed.
Juliet Waters. I believe this is the first time her name has come up in the story, and I apologize for that. Juliet was a dancer. She was a good one too. Juliet was not considered by very many to be a pretty girl, but I thought she was gorgeous. She was funny too, something I found very attractive in a girl. You would be right to say that I liked her. I could see myself with her. I hadn't known her for long. Only since we first started to rehearse. I still liked her though. I was just too afraid to tell her. Story of my life
I sat beside Juliet in the auditorium. I didn't technically need to be there, since we weren't doing my scenes, but I wanted to get back into the swing of things. And also, I really wanted to see Juliet.
She and I didn't get to talk a whole lot. She had to be on stage dancing for most of the time we were there. I didn't mind though, she was a graceful dancer, and I enjoyed watching her. After the frequent stops for blocking changes though, she became bored, and didn't dance as gracefully as she was capable. At this point, I went to my phone.
I had three texts. The first one was from my mom.
Mom: We're having cabbage soup for dinner. You can go eat with your friends if you want too.
Oh, I will. The second was from Candice
Candiceeeeeeeee (don't judge me): Hey, I convinced your mom to let you come eat dinner with me! I'll meet you in Kershaw. I'm driving! No offence.
None taken. The last text was from Mila
Mila: Are you doing okay?
If you care, why didn't you come see me in the hospital?
I decided not to respond.
I texted Candice back: Sounds good. I'll be ready at 6:30
Then I texted mother: Well apparently my plans were already made for me. lol.
She sent back a winking emoticon. I don't know what to think of that.
I put my phone in my pocket and looked up to see a smiling Juliet, very close to my face. "Do you have a dollar, I'm really thirsty" Anything for you. I looked into my wallet, I had multiple one dollar bills. In fact, I carried them because people asked for them all the time. "Thanks, You're the best!" She said, and gave me a fairly violent hug. I hope I didn't blush too hard.
Next, I saw my drama teacher walking towards me. "Nice to have you back, John." "Thank you, nice to be back" I responded, and she walked away. I looked around, everyone was talking in groups. They had apparently been given a break from the practicing of the scene. Nobody was very close to me though. So, I closed my eyes, and began to doze off. I got twelve glorious seconds of sleep, and then the very bubbly Juliet reappeared holding a soda. "I seriously like, cannot thank you enough. I was so thirsty." she took a long swig, then thrust the soda toward me. "you wanna sip?" Yes. "No that's okay, it's your's.". She took another sip then said "you're sweet" and pushed my chin to the side with her finger. Once again, I hope I didn't blush too hard.
I left practice, and walked out to my new car. Well, new to me. I now drove a Honda Civic, which I was MORE than thankful for, since I totaled my car. I unlocked the doors, but stopped before I got in. I looked up, it was a sunny day. Okay, you've done this before, you can do it again. I slowly got into the car. I started it. I couldn't bring myself to put it in drive. Suddenly, I heard a tapping on my window. I looked up, to see Juliet standing there. "Hey, I noticed you were having trouble, so, I brought you this." She handed me a folded up piece of paper. "I'll see you tomorrow" she said, and then she left. I unfolded the note
You're a hero, you know. You've got this, man. Death is your b****!
XOXO -Juliet.
Well, if I didn't like her before, I did now. Even the way she refused to say curse words, I found adorable. I folded the note back up and put it into my wallet. I planned on keeping it forever. Filled with a new confidence, I put the car in gear, and started the drive home. Although I was going under the speed limit the entire way there (and by under the speed limit, I mean twenty in a fifty-five) , I made it home. I got out of my car, and went inside to put on nicer clothes. at 6:30, I heard Candice pull into my driveway. I walked outside and got in the car with her without even thinking about it.
I trusted Candice with my life.
