Jazmine POV

I ran to cork board wall in the hallway where the people who made certain clubs was listed. There was a large crowd I had to fight though to see it but I grinned happily when I saw Jazmine DuBois under cheerleading.

"I MADE THE TEAM!" I beamed happily jumping up and down. I saw Huey walking over to the board and I blushed looking at my feet. He didn't pay me much attention he just looked at the board. I glanced up to see his name under .... the debate team?

HE TOOK MY ADVICE!!!!

"Congrats Huey!" I smiled at him. "As to you" he said in his normal nonchalant voice. We walked to our first period "Hey when's your first debate?" I asked. He glanced down at me "in a month, why?" He asked. "Because I want to be there, silly I wouldn't miss that for the world " I smiled and he raised his brow. "Alright...I'll hold you to that DuBois" he challenged. I smiled "good"

Month later

I was doing stretches. The big homecoming game was coming soon and every practice matters. I was completely soar though from all the practice. "DU BOIS BACK IN FORMATION!" Tammie yelled. I rushed over and sighed. "5, 6, 7, 8!" She yelled to us and we started to do our moves.

"Debate members please come to the cafeteria you will be starting soon" the speaker though the school said. I gasped stopping "I have to go!" I ran to the door. "JAZMINE! Last time I checked you weren't on the debate club! Back in formation!" Tammie ordered. "But my best friend is I promised I would watch him" I told her. "Too damn bad" she placed her hands on her hips.

"Sorry" I rushed out the door to the cafeteria in my cheerleading outfit. I saw kids from our rival school and I didn't recognize anyone in the cafeteria...well except Huey and the language arts teacher Mr James. I caught my breath and calmly walked in sitting down grinning at Huey. It had already started I was about 10 minutes late.

I had to make it up to Huey for that... maybe I can get him a new book. Huey's scowl was harder then normal and he was looking at his feet listening to what the rival school was saying. "Alright good job Samantha and Amy next up Huey Freeman against Connor Adams" the language arts teacher said. "YAY HUEY!" I screamed clapping louder than everyone else and got his attention.

His scowl softened a bit and turned into a playful confused smirk when I blew a kiss at him he gave me and small awkward wave back. I got strange looks from people but I didn't care. "Alright then" Mr James chuckled. "Huey please present your case on police brutality against Connor" he said getting serious.

" As a youthful black man who experienced first hand racism since the day I moved here in Woodcrest, I have to disagree with Conner. He stated that racial discrimination had nothing to do with the deaths of those African American men and that they were killed because they resisted arrest? Let me begin to educate you on why I feel your statement is biased. Instead of offering evidence to support your argument, You noted that Michael Brown was at fault because he was a thug that robbed a liquor store for a cigarette, even so you haven't included evidence." He then cleared his throat.

"Alright fair enough but what about black on black crime? Statistics state that black on black crime is higher then white on black crime but you wouldn't want to bring that up would you? And why is that? Because you just wish to play the victims and not face the truth " Connor smirked.

"Ok, Let me enlighten you a bit, the difference between black on black crime is that offenses committed by blacks is justified and given a rightful sentence, while people like George Zimmerman is slapped on the wrist and prison free, but this isn't about white on white crime or black on black. This is about police brutality against blacks. " Huey explained.
